Every species has a complaint these days, so let a dog bark about politics. If I had a crystal ball to see into the coming Trump years, I bet there would be nothing but murk with occasional mushroom clouds. The power-hungry pumpkinhead will bring isolationism, extreme nativism, and turmoil for international relations. He gives lip service about bringing back jobs, but with no plan beyond drunkenly slashing and burning. Don’t be

“Bring a dead stiff squirrel and get in free!” Yes, that’s a real long-time promise by Death Guild. I can’t say what happens to the squirrels, but I can tell you about this legendary club night. It’s the longest running one for weird dark music in North America. That means gothic rock, industrial, darkwave, EBM and synthpop, with an ambiance like The Addams Family gone cyberpunk:

Greetings, readers of Dogpatch Press. I am André “Dracokon” Kon. Maybe you’ve heard of me as I’ve made my rounds in the fandom over the past decade. If not, here’s the fastest crash course I can give you. I began as a purveyor of written reptilian smut, got invited to speak at a couple of conventions, was admin of the late Herpy website, had work read in an NYC art show, was briefly on SoFurry’s staff, joined the musical stage act Attractivision, and became the host of a livestream called Gator
Here at Dogpatch Press, we get an awful lot of confused outsiders asking, “what’s this all about?” Here’s some definitions to help. If you have family or friends who want to know more about your hobby, share this to help them understand.
Anthropomorphic: Mixing animals with human characteristics. Think of cartoons, Aesop’s Fables, werewolves, and much more.
Furry: Anthropomorphic media and its fans. They often (but not always) role-play an animal character. A reptile one is a Scaly.

Love your pets. Eat a hamburger if your diet allows. But don’t eat your pets. And definitely don’t stomp them to death for sadistic sexual pleasure. (That’s crush fetish, a thankfully illegal practice that qualified for the Internet Hall Of Shame because of kitten murder.)
We can talk about weird stuff here. This is internet city. If you have gone down some of its shady alleys after dark, you mi
Poor Texas. I can’t wrap my mind around the extent of devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. It’s taught me a few things I never knew, like, most of Texas has no fire codes. That’s how you get to see a chemical plant blowing up worse than a bunch of MFF gas attacks. I think the lack of safety precautions is caused by political lobbying. The state is so big that their lobbyists can affect the whole country (and that’s how they control textbook buying too, so kids get to learn that jesus rode o
Co-written by Thurston Howl and Patch O’Furr. Full disclosure – Howl and Patch have received Ursa Major awards by community vote.
Even in non-writing communities in the furry fandom, many furries are aware of the Ursa Major Awards. They’ve been around for about 17 years, have presence at cons, and each year they receive many voters. However, for all their legacy, Thurston Howl – (a furry publisher who assisted with social media and marketing for the UMAs in 2017) – has come forward with conce
Here’s a nice story of community problem solving.
Any time there’s a furry event in San Francisco, Zarafa Giraffe is there. He gets around so much, that he was the featured image (with me too) when SFGate news mentioned “furries” in a silly little story about “The Most Embarrassing Google Searches” per state.
Zarafa is iconic for SF Bay Area furries. So it was a shock to hear that his fursuit was stolen.
SAN FRANCISCO FURRIES NOW TARGETS FOR ROBBERY was the headline. That’s very nice person

Hey everyone! I’m Furry trash! But more than that, I’m KickStarter Trash too! I thought it’d be a good idea to occasionally show some Furry stuff I’ve found on KickStarter for the folks who might not be regulars to the site, and share what they might be missing. Often times one time offer only listings.
This first edition is a little quick and dirty due to the time constraint of the first entree.

Ever been to a furry house?
They don’t smell like barns or zoos, with shedding all over the place. But they are full of nerdy games and comics, fursuit parts, and framed animation and fursona commission art on the walls. Sometimes there’s art that might cause awkwardness during a pizza delivery or surprise visit from mom. But it’s not for them. It’s by and for fellow furries when they get together for meets, parties, art jams, and movie screenings as a community.

Midwest Furfest 2017 broke the attendance record of all furry cons by the margin of a small con itself. It raised an eye-popping $86,000 for an animal charity that was previously in the red and is now funded for years. Twitter was on fire about the smashing success for the fandom. Among many ecstatic posts by attendees, of course there had to be some kind of drama too. It came with a fursuiter being arrested. Here’s the story pieced together by claims on twitter:

Many people are to blame for ruining furry. This list isn’t comprehensive, and some of the jerks on it caused multiple problems at the same time.
1960’s – 1970’s: Artists ruined furry.
Underground comic artists made a plan to stigmatize fans of funny-animal comics by putting adult stuff in ones like Robert Crumb’s Fritz The Cat and Reed Waller’s Omaha The Cat Dancer. It worked well enough to keep fans from openly using the “furry” name until the 1980’s.

I’m in love with this exclusive animation that Jib Kodi made for a B&A (Bark & Awoo) with me! It was so cool of him to put the appeal and personality of his art on display with his words. He caught my eye, as I’m sure he did for many others, with his outrageously cool short .gif animations on Twitter. In a very short time (months!) he’s built a massive 14K following based on how infectiously shareable they are. It’s a winning strategy for an artist, and as far as he’s told me, it just h

“Mature” stuff isn’t built in to a fandom for talking animal art, but it sure makes everyone hot under the collar – whether they love it, or just giggle about how weird it is. 2017 sucks. The news is like a dumpster fire. The best escape is the gentle, fun-loving furry fandom. But even here, meanies are coming to ruin things. So how do we make it better? I have the answer. Something to neutralize negativity and bring back what’s important. Something made of pure happiness and smiles. Something I can always get behind. Cans. Behinds. Butts.
Cute and colorful butts. Plush, squeezable butts. Fluffy butts with perky tails. Butts to inspect close up and say hello to. Bu

A review of Mascot Fur Life
I have just watched a film titled Mascot Fur Life (2016 German with English subtitles). To be honest I was a bit apprehensive to watch another “furry film/ documentary” – the last one I watched left me feeling betrayed and hollow inside. Anyway, on to this film.
The main character is a Lion named Willion Richards. Willion’s dream is to be the mascot
