I forgot I had a cooking thread. Was on reddit, someone asked what was rice pudding. Here was my comment:
"Oh man its so good!! Its comfort food and its subtle sweet and its cinnaminny and its used with rice!! so you get a dinner thing and a breakfast thing at the same time without spending more on farina or oats or whatever.
Here's a basic recipe to make it in a crockpot: Stuff to get: 1/3 teaspoon ground cinnamon, bag of actual cinnamon sticks (if you don't add the actual cinnamon sticks ur a dirty communist) 1/3 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2/3 cup condensed milk, 1 cup rice, white rice is best, 3 cups water, 2 cups cold milk, or for extra sweetness/diabetes do 1 cup of milk (full fat) and 1 cup of evaporated milk. If ur lactose intolerant like myself (like most hispanics are wont to be, fun fact) use vanilla soymilk/almondmilk instead of the regular crap because it is Not Good and tastes like taxes but in liar-milk format
Put all those sons of wonderful ladies in the crockpot BUT NOT THE COLD MILK/EVAP MILK MIX and cook on low for like an hour and a half, or when the rice its soft, or when its absorbed like most of the way, you're basically at the mercy of the rice, its okay, and then pour the cold milk/evap mix into the thing and leave it alone for like 20 minutes or so. Serve warm, or sold cold. Its america, do what you want. To make it Extra Good add more cinnamon on top of it and stick a cinnastick in the bowl and mix the stuff on occasion so you get Extra cinnamon goodness.
If you wanna make it american add chocolate or almonds or whatever but I like it pure. My tata added raisins but I don't trust them so do what you will. Please try it and update if you do like it!!"
