2 years of progress posts... gone. Oh well! We're Back! Rederick Gravitas Blythe I am a 3D hobbyist looking for thoughtful critiques, suggestions, and learning resources! My focus is generally on a base model that has grown to the trio of fox-like anthropomorphs above! Gravitas was the beginning and Rederick brought the retopology where the majority of improvements were made. Blythe is the current focus, adjusting the model for female features while incorporating further improvements. I use Maya 2015 and render with its Mental Ray plugin. The old FAF thread was revolutionary for me, inspiring 5 pages worth of improvement including a complete model retopology. As I said in old thread, good advice is like gold: hard to find, but totally worth it! (Oh, and some time they're both really hard to bear.) So of course I'm going to start a new one! Onward we march in progress! Picking up around where I left off: A demonstration of the new PyMel script (which I've made available here) which is used to create a render-able view of model's skeleton! Coupled with renderable wireframes, it makes for a fairly good overview of the model thus far: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/17638414/ (nsfw for exposed nipples) Looking forward, I've decided to move forward with Blythe beyond topology work. Based on feedback from the last poster of the FAF thread, I'm going to have another go at fur effects and decide how to proceed with them. But, all the fur tech (except XGen, sort of) requires good UVs. So first, I need to rebuild those. From there, I think the first thing I've got to work out is whether to keep the tail's geometry big and fluffy as it is now and simply place a layer of fur over it, or reduce it to a thin whip-like shape and use fur to build the volume in a realistic fashion. As always: Comments, suggestions, and critiques are highly appreciated!
