  1. The turkey on our banner has given me an idea! Since we have more control over site design to include these little sorts of details, what if we had a contest for user-submitted designs? We could hold a contest for each month, were users can submit an icon-design to be included in the banner for the month and then open a forum-wide vote to determine which design goes up for the month!
  2. In respect to the new software installed on phoenix, I feel it could be time to implement the circle avatars to the system. I would be really interested in seeing them as a peminant part of the system because I feel they look more aestetically pleasing, provide a comfier user interface and a much more modern tone. Or are you into choice? What about a setting that allows you to switch between them based on personal preference? I would like that too! But I know this isn't the general opinion of the forum. What do you think? Keepsies or swapsies?
  3. Forgive me if there is already a way to do this, but I was wondering if it would be possible to include some sort of system to embed songs or albums from Bandcamp? If such a way doesn't exist already, I think it would be nice to include such a system, like what already exists for twitter and YouTube. Users who are active in the music creation forums (The Blue Note) could have an easier experience uploading some of their work in order to show the other users instead of a plain hyperlink. So other users can listen to their work without leaving the site.Users in the entertainment forums (The Tube) could benefit from such an embedding when sharing some of the songs that they enjoy that they cannot find tracks on YouTube. Both of these users could have the additional benefit of not taking up the whole screen with the YouTube video and instead a smaller, more concise way. Saving others from having to scroll down constantly to listen.I know they have their embedded options, but one that actually supports the forum's software would be ideal. Well, unless it's already in place and I'm being dumb.
  4. OK before the PC users chime in, Have one! But I want to get a console too, but not sure what to get, I like Halo and that has kept me with xbox before but the series has gone to such crap in the last game or two. They focused on multiplayer way too much and not enough thought into the story. So what would you suggest, please give a reason for your suggestion like no network fees or such
  5. I'm not here to give anybody grief for doing maintenance and updates. Entirely the opposite - I'm singing your accolades for paying attention and updating things and applying patches. I don't think I need to cite the old regime as a reason why this type of behavior is welcomed. I do have a request: Can planned maintenance like Wednesday's be posted a little ahead of time, even 24 hours in advance? Surely there will be situations with extenuating circumstances, such as you're responding to some sort of zero-day issue that needs to be patched. But if it's something even remotely planned in advance, let folks know (and please forgive me if I somehow missed that notice)? Over the years we've all learned the hard way that sometimes routine maintenance events can run long or encounter unanticipated problems. In my experience, most of the user-base is pretty forgiving of extended outages; all they ask is that there be some notice ahead of time so they aren't left wondering if there was a crash or an attack of some sorts. Another idea (and I don't know if the existing infrastructure would allow it) is to have a redirect to a notification page that says, "We're in maintenance, have some patience." That could do good things for those who don't read maintenance window warnings. Thanks for doing the good work on keeping the gears turning, I'm sorry y'all had trouble with things! I hope my ideas will help with making future efforts a little less surprising to folks, though.
