Shadowverse is a free-to-play card game that just got a PC release via Steam (it was originally mobile only). To put things simply, its basically Japanese Hearthstone, gameplay wise, as it is VERY similar. The gameplay involves picking a leader/class and using a deck attached to that leader to duel other opponents. In duels, each leader has 20 health, and as turns pass you gain more mana which you can use to summon more powerful cards, the most basic of which being monsters/followers. You use these followers to then attack your opponent until their health reaches 0, at which point, you win (unless yours is the health that reaches zero. In which case, you lose). Some cards have special effects. For example, an effect called "Ward" makes it impossible for a player to have a follower attack another player directly until the follower that has Ward is destroyed first. And so on. There are other effects. There are also spell cards as well. I don't have a whole lot of experience with Hearthstone, but the general consensus among players of this is that it has less grind and less RNG than Hearthstone, making it easier for new players to get into and get decent decks for. So if you're wondering why someone might play this instead of Hearthstone well...there you go. As I haven't played Hearthstone personally, I can't comment on this. Beyond that though, there's also the obvious aesthetic differences. Its much more...anime-y. The game also has several story modes for each leader/class you play. The stories aren't anything to write home about from what I can tell but you learn more about the characters and it helps with learning the basic gameplay. Has anyone been playing this? Do you have a favorite class? (I love playing Luna). Its been out on phones for a while, and it might be really fun to find people to play with. EDIT: It may be worth mentioning that Kripp talked a bit about this game:
