NikoLinni
So something I've been feeling as of forever is the idea that writers are kinda just...the odd obtuse 3rd wheel of the fandom. At least to me. I mean, for evidence just go over to Writer's Bloc or The Paper Mill and see how much engaging conversation is going on there. I'm pretty much almost twenty percent sure this will barely get any views/replies either. There are actually some topics (ON PAGE ONE) that I'd like to respond to, but I'm afraid of getting written up for Thread Necroing because their last post date was December of last year XD. Even on good ol' FAF it seemed like those two were the slower sub-forums of the other ones. And don't get me started on Fur Affinity, which gives me the feeling that the people owning the site care jack all about the writers. Have you tried publishing a text submission on FA? First, to even get the text to appear it needs to be saved as a .txt file, so if you like to use any formatting of any special kind in your story you're pretty much screwed when uploading to FA. But it gets better. Your .txt has to have the right encoding or else you get a bunch of <?> where your apostrophes and quotation marks should be. Which makes reading things a little awkward. So your only other alternative is to just upload it as a .doc or whatever. Which peeps have to download it to read it...but at least you can make a nice little thumbnail for it, right? Jesus when Furiffic dropped and was WAY more writer-friendly I was all but ecstatic. Even though the userbase for Furiffic is equal to that of the population of Manteca, CA, it's still nice. I dunno. I guess I just feel a little out of place being a writer instead of an artist. I tried to draw, but the pen life isn't for me. But I still can't shake the feeling that the fandom likes visual medium WAY more than written, so I suppose I could always compromise and throw money at artists to draw my characters. I mean who wouldn't want to draw FNAF knock offs, sexy cotton candy scented rabbits, and a calm goat that serves as an Emperor while trying to keep his Kylo Ren temper tantrum throwing alter ego in check? So yeah! Thoughts on this? Artists, fellow writers, consumer furs...lemme hear what'cha think. Zytan
I guess you've got the people with the imaginations writing/drawing, and then the ones without browsing for art/literature. Problem is without much imagination reading a description doesn't lead to fruitful imagery. Of course there's the middle ground before anyone bites my head off, but the vast majority just like the quick, easy image to 'imagine' a character.

DevilishlyHandsome49
*raises hand* I too feel the writing side of the fandom is very small and has the short end of the stick. Mind you I dont just write furry centric things but ever since i joined the fandom...and thats the only talent I have, thats really all I can contribute I want to get into voice acting but I feel id only get casted for sexy moan noises or somethin :V As for drawing...yeah, it will be a very long time until I'm good at that. When I first started on FA, I wasnt even sure if I was doing well cause no one would respond with any constructive criticism. It almost made me feel like barely anyone was actually reading it. Turned me off of it for quite a while. I ended up joining a project that needed some writers and I was able to fit right in. Other than that though, i dont really know my place. Im envious of artists who can draw and write. It seems like the only way I'd really be able to get notice of my work is to have a pic accompanied with it. I'd love to learn how to draw out what I write but until I can actually do it, all I have are my words. And you're also right with some furry sites not being writer friendly. FA is..okayish? FurryNetwork, while still in beta, has bad formatting and Sofurry's is abysmal to work with. The only good ones I've been able to use are Weasyl and Furrific but as you said, the writing community for those is skim. And if you're writer, enter yourself into my Writer's thread :3 im sure the mods wont bite your head off for it Edited February 11, 2016 by DevilishlyHandsome49

Conker
I write and am one of the few people who really post in that writing subforum of ours. I tend to stay away from furry stuff though, which is why I don't upload anywhere other than my dumb blog. But I do agree: FA treats written work pretty poorly with how it's posted/formatted. And everyone wants porn and not text. Unless it's smut, but even then, it's easier to look at a picture when going for a cheeky wank.
