Anyone else ever get that crappy feeling that they're not especially valuable?

Like, you can be good at one thing but there are people around you that can do it better and more?

Feeling really drained all the time, realising you're not as socially active as you could or should be, but making no attempts to fix it because it scares you, leaving you feeling lonely and sad?

Pretty much exactly this. I got loads of free time now, but somehow I can't motivate myself to start using that time efficiently. Pretty much started hating myself over it, but on the flip side there's hope. Gotta make a start and keep at it, problem is, I don't know when would be the best time for the greatest chance at success. What I believe to be the major reason is that there is nobody there to back me up on whatever I wanna do. During the week though, gotta maintain the responsibilities and that keeps me busy/makes me believe I'm spending my time well. So I'm making ends meet and keep on going 'till that time is here. I am not blaming anyone IRL, but it would've been swell if anyone actually cared 'bout my interests and personal growth. Unless you are good at what you do, but dang making a start is hard as all hell.

On the other hand though, I do tend to ask people around me for passive feedback - without them even realising it - and somehow that leads to unusually positive results.

PS: I should just stop playing games all the time and start coding or artsing or what have you.

PPS: I don't even know how hard I'm missing the ball relating to your problem, interpretations be hard on me tonight :V

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head. I'm a university student, and whenever I stay in my room instead of going out, I have time to mull over these sorts of things. And loneliness doesn't feel especially nice. But hey, gotta get on with my life.

That said, my life doesn't consist of much. Either I'm doing scheduled learning, I'm in my room, or I'm on a tiring night out that I'm not enjoying

Yeah, all of the time. I also often wonder why I bother doing anything when chances are nobody will give a shit about it. "Do it for yourself" only gets you to a point. It's like, yeah I accomplished something and am kind of proud of it, but if nobody else thinks so... what do I have to be proud about? Thankfully I'm just starting to chug along despite these feelings. Only question is, how long will it last?

Well, look at conversations like forum topics I'd say. There are many ways to handle them social relations.

How I do it:

It consists of 2 parts, listening and talking. If you listen well enough you can get to know a person, and what will be relevant things to say to him/her. If you don't/can't, you probably need an introductory conversation and actually ask stuff. Sometimes you say wrong things, but never enough to let people hold a grudge.

If you mean social as in out-going and popular than we're in the same boat. Self-classified introverts are the best! Always so thoughtful.

I just lost 400mb of data from my mobile plan because my Android decided it was going to download a system update that was that size, over my mobile data connection instead of wifi.

My service provider says they can't give me back that data. It's possible the low level customer rep I'm talking to in India or wherever probably can't do that for me.

I don't know if there's a way to turn off android updates through mobile. A tech friend for Verizon says no, although I'm not on verizon. I've turned off "background data" for now.

But it pisses me off. My phone is ver 4.4.4, the least that 400mb update could do would be to upgrade it to ver 5 Lolipop. Maybe I should just install a rom.

That happened to me too. I'm on T-Mobile and had background restricted and everything. It's incredibly insistent, too. It'll act like  you have no choice but to install it, but just hit the home or back button. Be sure to wait until your on wifi because there'll be another big one right after that.

I hope I linked it properly. The first clue should be that his page is called "Deception Expert" in the URL.

To explain what he does, is he has you take your age, do a bunch of math on it, and you magically get the number 21. I played around with it with a few numbers, but was pretty quick to figure out HOW he does it. And the fact he tells you to "like" the post in the middle of the trick to "lock in" the number, and then share and like the page if he gets it right.

Okay, so the math goes: Take your age, add 3, subtract 5, add 7. (So, in other words, 5 + your age). Then he tells you to like to lock in your number, and there's a reason why. He then has you subtract your age, add 5, multiply by 2, and then add 1.

Here's the trick to it. You added your age... and then you subtracted it, with no multiplication happening at that time. So basically the first half of the equation is [age] + 5 - [age], or using math simplification is [age] - [age] + 5, or just 5. You basically negate your fucking age from the equation. The rest doesn't matter, you'll always get 21. The full equation is basically ( [age] + 3 - 5 + 7 - [age] + 5) * 2 + 1. Anyone who knows how to simplify or solve equations knows you can remove the age component, then you get ([age] - [age] + 3 - 5 + 7 + 5) * 2 + 1 or (10) * 2 + 1, or 21.
