I want to work not school

I want to have a work because school is lame for me and i suffer from depression that makes school much worse for me.

School destroyed my digestion system and freetime.

I have lost so much of my time and i dont want it to flow away.

I know work is stress and no summer vacation but its worth it.

My parents freak out because  they are scared that i end up like my brother. I dont need anyone to stop me, i will deal with my depression myself and find work.

I don't know what level of school you're in - but go for that diploma, man. It'll make the rewards of work that much more sweet.

If it's just a summer job, you should be in the green. Just keep in mind that school and work don't always mix.

Saying you'll deal with depression by yourself is like saying you'll do you own cardiovascular surgery to deal with heart problems. Depression is a sickness and even if you have a doctor's degrees specifically required to deal with it you still need help from others.

Everyone should always get help for depression and those kinds of things.

Just fyi work is no ballpark either, it has its own challenges and stresses that school does not. Do you really think you get that free time working rather than schooling? Nope. Your time is always drained away somewhere. Even moreso if you dont make enough money to have time to do other things

Work is definitely rewarding though, so if you do that I suggest training or short two year programs that land you a job with minimal schooling.

Don't take the week long breaks for granted either, because once you are out of school they will be gone. However, I can understand how depression and affect one's work. I feel like college or school, in general is like a breeding ground for negative emotions and developments in negative mental/emotional health. Take care of yourself, but also realize the importance of your school work. It will set you up for work later.

I'd love to have just remained in college, taking classes, hanging out...the world of work hasn't been nearly as fun!

Trust me...work's for jerks! ;)

I dunno, I really like the part where people pay me rather than ask for tuition payments.

I can say every single one of those things about my current job

No. No it's not.

School and work suck equally; why not get a summer break while you're at it?

Glad to hear you're feeling better anyway!! :) Keep posting!!

I know Nova actually made a serious post and yet I found it more hilarious than the normal nonsense posts Nova makes.

Stay in school. Don't kick rocks in Africa. Stay away from "ghetto blacks."

I will kick rocks on ghetto blacks in africa . xD

Just do what Richard Branson did. He didn't finish highschool either. And the problem isn't lack of free time, is enjoying what you're doing. Branson never has free time either, but all his time is taken up by him having fun with work.

Uhhh, while I appreciate where Rassah is coming from here, there is a reason why there are over 7 billion people on earth and only one Richard Branson.  If you have an idea for your own business and have some business skills, then sure drop out of school and follow your dreams!  However, if you have no unique ideas, no business skills, no connections, and no resources, then giving up a free education is probably not a great life choice.  The "Follow Your Dreams and You Will Be Rich and Happy" books are written by the few people who succeeded, not by the many that failed.  I'm not trying to discourage anyone from starting a business, but don't do it on a whim and don't do it without a plan.  Starting a business is not easy and it's not for everyone.  I started my own business ten years ago and I am quite happy with that decision.  Right now I'm sitting around in my pajamas intermixing 'work' with wasting time here and occasional games of Warframe, cuz it's Friday, I was traveling all week, and I have decided to give zero fucks this afternoon.  In summary, be cool, stay in school, unless you think you are Richard Branson.

Also, I think that Nova, who's skillset doesn't extend beyond 'Bitching about high school drama involving him and other high schoolers', dropping out of high school may not be the wisest choice.

And that's...

Not an insult?

You could always be me.

Volunteer at a school, unpaid work.
Get hired next year at said school.
Realize working for anything government is ass, even if you're, like, 3 steps removed.
Realize the pay isn't that amazing.
Still get summers off where you're basically not paid. Your paycheck is just stretched over that summer.
Have to work summers anyways!
Deal with job searching even though you technically still have a job.
That summer job probably sucks too.

I think life's motto is "everything sucks, go fuck yourself."

(My life is actually a lot of fun and I enjoy it. Don't be too discouraged :v)

This is the sort of job you'll do if you don't finish school:

Try to start your own business and/or game the system as much as possible since it's going down anyways. Riding on a high horse while doing so is optional ^__^

Take it from me. I took a little... 8 year break after school to go to work. I had a great job too. Traveled the world. 6 figure income. Great job.

But unfortunately the market collapsed from under me. I have a bullshit associates degree but around here that means nothing. I am going back to school this fall.

Definitely apply yourself in highschool. Afterwards, yeah, take a year off. Go to work. Find out what the world needs. 8 years ago I would never have given "occupational health and safety management" a chance. Now, it's my major.
