I got a remain leaflet through the post today, specifically addressed to me.

It's kind of weird considering I haven't given my address to either side. Maybe they saw my name on the electoral register as a new voter?

According to the papers at work this morning, apparently George Osbourne has plans to raise taxes way up and further slash funding for our already-struggling and heavily slashed public services.

In other words, an orchestrated financial crisis, should we vote Leave. Even his own party agrees that he's a complete bellend.

Really hoping that we leave so that crooked bastard may resign.

There's apparently talks Cameron would do the same if we vote leave, but I personally think its unlikely

I think he actually mentioned he would at one point, but I'm afraid I don't have a source right now. He's been against the EU much earlier, but now he's obviously for it. Boris Johnson is eager for Leave to happen because he thinks Cameron will resign because of it, ignoring his other beliefs.

I don't understand why any citizen would voluntarily hand their sovereignty over to a bunch of non-citizen bureaucrats in a foreign country.   It's another step to reduce the power of the people which is exactly what the establishment wants.

All the while they distract the citizens with their bread and circuses.

I get the impression that, given a lot of conservatives want to leave the EU, that labour decided to campaign to remain solely to be contrary.

You're probably right. He spoke against Britain's membership of the EU back in the 70s, and a lot of newspapers are saying that based on his manifesto, he would be better off in favour of Brexit. Although to be fair, these are newspapers that strongly support parties that aren't labour.

I don't quite know what made Jeremy Corbyn spearhead a 'remain' campaign, given that I thought Labour would probably have been largely campaigning for Brexit.

Both the Labour and Conservative groups have showed a lot of anti-EU sentiment in the past, and their policies tend to be blocked or meddled in one way or another by the EU. It's also interesting that the leaders of both were against the EU and then decided to be remainers once in positions of power.
I'm quite confident when I say that these particular remainers are backing remain out of pure self-interest. If you haven't looked at the Brexit movie yet (that I linked on the first page, complete with captions, free to view) you get to have a look at the nature of the EU and the cushty provisions given to its stooges. The first 10-15 minutes should be sufficient for that.

As for Labour specifically, Blair and Brown have been proven to be complete crooked cunts (not implying tory Cameron isn't), and it's no surprise that Comrade Corbachev may be roped into the same sort of predicament. Socialist movements tend to have a long history of being pounced upon by opportunists.

...actually, on second thought I am guessing that most labour seats are probably in areas with high numbers of immigrants.

This is likely true. Labour has a pattern of welcoming large amounts of immigration and trying to get them citizenship. Naturally, those they let in would be glad to vote for their benefactors. Imported voter base.
If I'm not mistaken, a lot of Labour voters are choosing to vote leave as they feel their interests are secondary as far as Labour's leadership is concerned. Given that many Brexiters are from poorer backgrounds or from struggling small businesses... yeah. Unsurprising.

If you actually believed that, it would be a very selfish motivation.

Depends on for whom. I do somewhat believe that, but this would mean that this would be good for others in America, and also those in UK, since they will likely see a slight bump from leaving all the EU mess behind. It will be bad for EU though, but they kinda had it coming, sice all of the fallout will be entirely their own fault.

Now this situation making my bitcoin investment skyrocket, yeah, that would be selfish.

I thought it was selfish to want other European economies to suffer, so that your American economy could improve. I'm not sure it even would,  but that motivation is...not very nice, is it?

But that's only what I do saturday believe.

It isn't as bad as what China wanted to do at one point. Then again, devaluing currency is ultimately bad for the economy. We've seen that happened with Rome prior to its collapse, since the  silver Denaii had less and less silver to the point it is highly visible.

Americans should be for the Brexit too. UK leaving could trigger the economic precipitous fall in Europe, which is already on the edge. Euro crashing = USD and US stocks going way way up.

The main thing I can think that the UK makes is kinky sex and bondage gear...woah, some of the biggest and oldest companies are there. Almost all my pup gear is from the UK.

And up north, there's all that Scotch, and some nice wool sweaters.

Well, if they exit and the pound goes down, it will all be cheaper here, at least.

I just came back from a formal meal at my University for all finalists.

The college principal used his speech in order to instruct us to vote remain, and he then proceeded to insult people who disagreed with him.

I thought this was very inappropriate and I can't believe he abused his position like that. :\

Go at all costs and use all means necessary to keep it going....

Well today's the big day.

Since posting in this thread I've gone from wanting to vote to remain to wanting to vote leave to not knowing what the fuck to do. Part of me wants to vote leave and another part of me wants to remain.

I voted to remain in the end, but I won't be too annoyed if either side wins.

I went through pretty much the same process as you except I ended up voting to leave.

Voted Leave. My dad and sis, who have never voted before, have voted leave. My entire extended family has voted leave. My family's friends have voted leave. My co-workers today told me they have voted leave. The men and women in the pub opposite our parish hall have voted leave.

The parish hall supplied us with pencils to write our votes. Some have enjoyed the use of my black biro, ensuring that their votes will not be voided or sabotaged.

I haven't met a single remainer outside of one my neighbors, who's wife enjoys keeping his ballsack in her purse -- even she's voting leave. His reason? He's worried that he won't be able to take holidays in spain. Absolute bollocks.

I'd wish the best of luck to the posh boys and rootless cosmopolitans, but I don't really feel like it.

The only thing I'm certain about is that tommorow I'm getting drunk as shit. Whether or not this will be a happy reason, however, has yet to be determined.

Europe will be united one form or another, it is inevitable. This referendum is irrelevant in the long run, regardless of its outcome.

At best this a feel-good change that will merely expose you to a different set of influences over the same things. Vote as you will, but recognize that no nation is truly an island, not any more.

Sorry, I'm clearly retarded. I misread your post and assumed your avatar was purely ironic.

Do we really need Britcucks as friends? We should just build a wall around the UK and Ireland.

But they hate us! Australia has way more potential! Plus, Australians aren't a bunch of passive-aggressive nosebleeds.

Let them keep killing themselves slowly. I'm still butthurt over the War of 1812.

Eek. Could be Brexit. Looks like Scotland has voted almost unanimously for staying in the EU which isn't surprising.

Personally I'd have voted remain if my 18th birthday wasn't two weeks away, but at the same time it would be fun to see the shitstorm that would happen if Brexit does happen.
