I mean, there was no poll to talk about any of the other decisions like colors or anything like that. At least give the users some sort of input. And don't tell me to calm down.

there are so many arbitrary decisions that are not discussed with the users that we should probably just remove them now for not being more open about it.

 

but that's exactly it. this isn't an imperative decision. this is an easily revisable, inconsequential, detail-oriented situation. the fact that they aren't banning comments IS input. you have a right to say what you do, but they may have a thorough counterargument as to why they didn't, and if you can't deconstruct that they don't have to take it. in fact in some ways we're almost expecting too much out of our right as users, as the mods don't need to be criticized for arbitrary formatting. if it needs to be changed we can just discuss it.

 

i'm not even telling you to calm down. i'm just throwing reasons out there to stay rational about this situation. freak out all you want, and see what the consequences are. i don't really care. but there are also reasons you can consider that allow you to not have to feel emotionally invested in this. it's your choice, not mine, and all i'm doing is reminding you that.

They most likely didn't think anybody'd care.

I didn't even see any problems with it until someone pointed the issues out.

Even now it's pretty damn unimportant.

Almost every SOTU has asked for some kind of NSFW area once we figured it out, so don't even start with that. I take major offense to the idea that a forum that's been asked for by at least 30 different people at some point "didn't have a discussion" just because you feel left out. That's ridiculous sidewalk and you know it.

Furthermore, a poll for the colors? It is a quick designation to figure out what goes where. For people that use both black and white versions of the forums, Yellowish worked. Its the most inconsequential thing in the world. The Mods are not going to hold a poll for a color. 

The bottom line is that there a lot of people excited for the NSFW area. The art areas are already exploding because the nsfw artists on the forum no longer have to tippie toe, and regular users don't have to see another god awful fetish thread where people post it seriously. Your concerns earlier about "everyone abandoning" the forums falls apart when PFO, PDC, P2, and basically almost every discord channel one of us is on has an area for NSFW stuff and has worked just fine. 

This is ridiculous to argue about and I'm actually pretty disappointed you brought this up as though we've ignored people. We get a lot of flak just by trying to do things people want.

I'm just frustrated, because I feel like this kinda happened out of the blue and it's frustrating because I feel like I'm almost not allowed to get upset over it. See how you guys are responding? You're basically writing my concern off as unimportant. It's not just about the color, it's about the whole thing in general. So I suppose I just have no say in anything anymore.

We're not saying it's unimportant, we're saying it's factually incorrect on every level and have already explained why.

before we go any further, let's just all take a second and remember that significant things will only happen if we perceive them as significant in this case.

 

this...is factually not going to affect anybody severely. there are very few people who are only identifiable for their NSFW persona, and the people who are diversely talkative are not those people. 

age exists. there's no workaround to that. so if the forum wants something it has to be acknowledged.

the mods did something good now because they established something that was wanted by many members. plenty of people had their say and they're getting it right now.

 

there's nothing worth arguing about here. if you want to discuss something, go ahead. but if there's a need to start an argument at this point in time, you are creating problems. end of story.

it's just porn.

You're right, all of you are right. This really isn't worth the tension and arguments. I'm happy to have this new section and support the mods with whatever choice of distinction they feel is best (as long as it isn't the elitist "+" ;3 )

This is a great idea. I really like this. I gotta hand it to the phoenix staff, you guys are great. For such a niche/small furry forum we really do get over-proportionately great service compared to our size, I really appreciate that and we're lucky to have it. 

 

also two weeks then I can join the lewd area wooooooooo

You need to realize that not everything that is implemented or that exists is going to include or cater to you. Them's just the facts of life. This is not the Sidewalk Forums. This is the Phoenixed Forums. This site exists for the whole of the userbase.
You are a minor. The NSFW section has literally nothing to do with you, and won't, until you are 18 years of age.
Worry about it WHEN and IF you turn 18, Phoenix is even still around, and you even want access to the adult section.

I'm sorry that you feel as if you have little say in other things going on in the forum or otherwise, but bluntly, the forum does not need to handhold your insecurities. The users  are not obligated to that. The mods are not obligated to that.
That's just how it is, yo.

Laws are laws are laws. We're attempting to give as much of the users what they want as we can, both within our means and within the legal system.
You may as well be angry that an exclusive bar chose a pin color you didn't like for entry, even though you're not allowed there in the first place, because you're not old enough.
It's quite silly.

And I'm dropping this subject now.

You do not have the safety the from being argued with and corrected just because you feel bad. No one has that here and if you can't handle it then you should just stop. You can go off just as much as anyone else can defend themselves.

I don't like being accused of being upset because I wanna look at porn or whatever you think I'm upset over. That really pissed me off.

This was discussed many times, and the staff were going to implement it when we figured out how to make an area for 18+. We figured it out and it's here to stay.

I know you said this a while ago but I never said I was safe from being criticized. I'm not a saint, and I can admit that. I'm not perfect and I admit I was in the wrong. But the only interactions I've ever had with you have been you criticizing my bad behavior, so I don't even know what you're trying to say anymore. Maybe I'd listen to you if we were actually friends, but I don't see the point of listening to some bloke who comes out of nowhere whenever you act out of line.

Also it's not mentioning those things.
It's posting material of them / ERPing them (in the ERP section) / etc.

I mean, I could have assumed but you know what they say about assumptions. I'm still not clear where the slippery slope of "nsfw items" ends since I could think of a lot of different "items" that could be used for sex. To be quite honest though, I couldn't care much less. At least this cleared up 95%

Wow,  that was shitty. 

Just saying now,  I'm a little concerned about where it could go.  It might have only a few threads. I think having the ability to make specific threads 18+ might do equally as well as an entire section devoted to such a limited topic. Based off what I'm seeing so far, the scope of it isn't much further than sex and art. 

Either way, I'm happy that people can see what they want to see, but does that also mean that rules outside of that section will be stricter? 

Also, will NSFW threads (specifically for writers and artists) be moved to the Red Lantern? Or is that too much to do at this point?

(I'll be going back and reading the first page)

I am well aware that you can use a carrot or zucchini as a dildo...that doesn't mean you should. :V

Maybe in the future, a stash megathread may happen, but today is not that day.

Short answer, yes

Long answer, rules on NSFW content outside of that section will be stricter, however if you mentioned yiff or porn or something in a comment but didn't go into graphic detail about it, that's perfectly fine.

The big ones will eventually be moved when the thread owners get their membership. the two main ones being Dev's FA Comment Simulator and the porn thread in the Black Hole. I think most of the other ones have pretty much died out or people have made duplicates of them in the subforum already, so there's not much use in moving them

That did cross my mind, but more realistically I was picturing a puppy mask or a (modified?) fursuit, or something to that effect.
