I moved out so I can bitch about my  awfulparents without sounding like a poor whiny brat who wont take responsibility for themselves especially when in reality if it wasnt for said parents you wouldnt be fed and clothed and living

It's good to know that if you're treated badly at home and have nowhere to turn you can always come here and be treated badly by everyone here too.

FaF/Phoenix has made me grow tougher skin. I'm grateful because of it.

And by the way, when i have actual real issues I can usually talk it out with the folk here and it's great.

But yeah, we're actually all monsters :^)

So this is where Toshabi is going to go ahead and take the time to respond.

Preface: By all means, go ahead and post your family problems here in the public forum, just don't be astonished, flabbergasted or in awe if someone calls you out on doing it like a bitch.

It's true; People come on this side of forum outerspace to bitch, to moan and to let off some steam. Family issues happen like other things in the world. The one key thing I keep in play whenever I come on these forums is what am I going to talk about and how personal is it to me. Family is a big deal, whether we hate em or not. Families also fight a lot. Families have drama in them nonstop. Families make us bitter or happy or Toshabi,  depending on what kind of family you have. The one consistent thing I've noticed about these forums (and this goes for all topics) is the amount of exaggeration people place in their posts. Sometimes its being told as is, sometimes it isn't. That's the fun part about posting in the public; People can react in any sort of ways from supporting you to being against you. It all really depends on what the subject matter is about. Maybe it's about stinky hobos taking a piss on your car or a guy that cut you off on the freeway who got his just rewards when your car was actually a Transformer and you blew him away into kingdom come. When it comes to family though, I find that the exaggeration gets cranked to the max, especially in this furry fandom. Heck, I've been on skype calls back when I was just chibi Toshabi (fandom wise) where I actively heard someone bitch at their parents for asking them to take out the garbage then proceed to bitch in the skype chat about how unfair mom was and how horrible it is that she asks her to do chores! OMFG! Not to mention going on and on about all the mental issues and medical conditions demented mother has.

Sure, my post referenced Nova's thread and was spawned by that and some messages on twitters I saw floating around about how mommy and daddy are lame for taking them out for ice cream when they were in the middle of a videogame with their furriends. It's lame. It's tacky. It's them literally making a grand stand to put down their family because they want to make a stink out of it. Especially when it's done in the way by Nova where it's practically him/her/whatever using the thread to vomit out garbage about their dad. We don't know the dad's side of things. We don't know what truly goes on in their household. But what I do know is that it's hitting a personal level when they bring up the fact that their dad is an alcoholic. Love em, hate em or not, they're family. It really tells what kind of person you are when you're going to go about shit talking your parents so that you can feel good about yourself on a public forum. Vent or not, that shit should stay personal and with friends (online or IRL), especially if you seek to improve the situation in the family. There's more that goes on beneath the OP and all the public environment will do is pretty much nod their head and tell you what you want to hear regarding their bastard father who they hate with all their might.

It's just tacky.

Call Toshabi whatever the hell you want. Think of me as the scum of the earth. Be overly offended and spam me with all caps "GO FAWK URSELF" (well, maybe not you), but I've got to say, fuck y'all if you're going to talk about family like that. I think Nova was being a tacky bitch, and nothing is really going to change that. Shocker, Toshabi has an opinion about someone.

Additionally, this has its own thread as to not derail Nova's soap box where he can bad mouth his alcoholic father in, as well as not have this entirely be about him and his bitch thread (It somewhat kind of is now, but I can say the same rant to any furry I see come up on Twitter), as this is a common thing I see in this fandom. Being more and more apart of it, I see it way more. Seeing shit like this spawn on a forum I frequent made me wanna put my foot down and say something about it, as to discourage this kind of behavior here. But seeing the gag reflex spewed out by the hugbox, a lot acted before they really stopped to give it any thought. That or people are really just that out of touch with being classy (That's funny coming from a Toshabi). Be careful how you ass pat. It does encourage habits and ways of thinking.

That's the Toshabi thought on it all. Nod your head, dispute it, debate it, bop it, twist it or pull it. You decide 2016.

I'm also guilty. Though I find it easier to express personal issues and inner conflict to nameless faceless people online where I can be assured of my anonymity. One reason I don't seek out close friends with my problems is because I know if I talk to them about something deeply personal they'll want to talk more about it later, once I've opened up to a friend I can't just leave it be, I've made a commitment to absorb all of their concern and to let them try to "fix" the issues. Or they decide I have too much baggage and they distance themselves. Either way letting people in IRL is messy. Sometimes I just want a void to shout into, and maybe a little advice from people who don't have personal attachment to me. Sometimes a stranger can give you some clarity on a situation that your friend can't because your friend will only tell you what they THINK is best for you.

Nameless faceless people online don't really care, they don't know who you are, so they can't care. They aren't affected by your personal problems. So it's tempting to just word vomit away. It's good for purging toxic feelings and generally doesn't leave a deep impact on anyone.

I also don't personally feel guilt talking about my family because blood relation is not something I consider special or sacred. I can see the OP's point but tacky or no, sometimes the emotional distance offered by the internet can help you cope with a problem better than you can on your own or with your inner circle.

Parents from the 50's/60's/70's generation are retards, though.

Can't really deny it.

Reading is nerdy. What you should do is bang rocks together and hit each other with clubs.

As for, family affairs, I'd say venting is preferable than keeping it bottled up and doing something dumb like stabbing somebody or whatever.

Furthermore, it has the added bonus of occasionally someone volunteering a good idea or solution to a problem.

Plus nobody is making you read it. Nobody had me at gunpoint saying "Read that Nova thread, ya little bitch.".

I'd imagine it'd only encourage the attitudes of the people who already have that attitude.

Nova never writes nerd essays.

Just classic posts about "kicking a rock in Africa" or "Ghetto Blacks."

I have witnessed the puffs of smoke that rise from the chimney of the posting machine at the heart of a skull shaped volcano so I know what a true quality "post" is.

RUDE!!!

@Feelwell the Rabbit No no one is forcing me to read, respond or write to it, and at the same time, no one is forcing you to read, write or respond to this. Its a moot point to make.

Anyways, venting is better than bottled up, I agree, but I kind of feel like family is a bit of a grey/red zone for out in the open discussion. The manner it was written up is in line with what you'd expect to see from Club Penguin and Neopets forums.

Ironically enough, the ball falls back in your court here: What if the ass patting "Woah! You go big guy!" comments to Novas thread is encouraging him to act in a hissy fitty nature towards his parents who are, maaaybe not as bad as Nova is making them out to be? I can see why both arguments can go both way in this regard for your point and my initial point. Suggestions can get made to better situations in those threads or... points like "Yeh parentz stink, move out now lol" could make some end up becoming more of a brat.

If Nova presented himself better, I probably wouldn't have made a counter thread or address this point on here, but alas, it came off like the typical teenage furfag who needs to be bullied out of their lunch money.

Guys I'm really angry so I'm gonna make a petition

A strongly worded petition that people can sign to agree with me that my parents are rubbish

If enough people sign it I'll show it to my parents and they'll feel bad and give me more pocket money

Pleaze sign lol so we can end parent terrorism to children

K thx love you guys xXxXxXx
