Comments first pointed out that "nope, just a plurality", but there is a higher percentage of LGBT people in the fandom compared to society at large. Well, I've seen the ad, and it's just a "contact us for more details at this PO Box" and it was out just a week before CF8, too late for people to do stuff. And CF had always been known as a sleazy con, and the "normal" furries kept leaving.This makes me wonder then. Why the hell are you furries gay? Is is still Merlino and people like him wanting to make the fandom more inclusive? Or was it that Merlino wanted a sexy-time hang out with his favorite underground sexy animal hobby?Why furries? Kind of a weird combination. Anthropomorphic animals and gay men. I don't get it. No one seems to have an answer. There were prostitute cats, drugs, and breasts in that movie, no fox dong yet. I think it was because of a beginning (and probably a little hypocritical) backlash from the Sci Fi fandom that associated the fandom with bestiality. It hadn't reached that point yet, though. And Merlino was faced with discrimination by bigoted Texas Sci Fi fans. So the fandom kinda became more insular, and said "you know, we're gonna be more accepting than those douchey uptight sci fi fans", so then that led to a more diverse fandom. But then geeks are geeks and they are sometimes TOO accepting, and, well, that's where the bestiality, pedophilia, and rape fetishes come in.
