The Christmas Super Special Awesome Chocolatey Fudge Coated Happy Fun Time Holiday Megathread

Merry Christmas! And happy Chanukah as well. Joy and happiness for all you fantastic furballs.

Have a crumbly Christmas cookie recipe:

6 cups flour (sifted)

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons cinnamon

1 pound lard (or shortening if you insist)

1 egg

1.5 cups sugar

.5 cup some fruity wine (or fruity fruit juice)

1 tablespoon vanilla

2 tablespoons anise (you can add more or less)

1.5 teaspoons ground cloves (you can add more

Preheat oven to 350F. Cream lard and add sugar and wet ingredients, then knead in the flour and dry ingredients. Add more flour if the dough is sticky, then roll out and cut. These cookies should be small, maybe an inch and a half across. Bake for 10 minutes then dust with cinnamon and sugar.

Oh! I nearly forgot the Prime Rib recipe! Turns out it's not much more than 'follow the directions' but the special little extra umph comes from the choice of seasoning.

You take really coarse-ground Kosher salt, mix with some water to a paste-like consistency. Then you slather it on your rib roast (we do boneless but bone-in is really good too) and cook it in the oven at 325 degrees for however long it says to make the outer pieces medium. That'll leave the middle portions nice and rare! Cut and serve!

So I ended up buying myself a new pair of sunglasses for Christmas. I've not had a nice pair of sunglasses for about 3 years when I lost my Oakley's after a sailing boat I was on capsized. I just got sick of buying $20 pairs that would keep breaking or fit weird on my head so I got a pair of Maui Jim's.

I didn't get much. I got a $50 steam card from my parents. My mom's family does a White Elephant gift exchange as a part of our annual tradition and I got from it a bag of trail mix, a pair of binoculars, and some sort of Fly Fishing tool. Not the best gift, but I'm not too upset and more glad that I could finally see my family after being so busy with school.

I'm also celebrating Christmas with my dad's family sometime in January, so I have that to look forward too.
