Things that are not steampunk

Last steampunk topic I'll make in a while i promise. This time it's more humorous. I found, amd keep finding, a lot of things tagged as steampunk that aren't. At all.

I decided to share them here too, because the topic got really popular on the steampunk forum i frequent.

Feel free too add to the collection.

That's for sure! I wonder how this seller thinks they could get 40 dollar for that.

I'm guessing they thought adding "Steampunk" to the description would add an extra £35 to the value lmao

I think most of the things in the images so far have the word steampunk in just to try and draw more search results.

I can't believe sticking random circuit boards and a speaker on a bit of cloth would make it worth $10 let alone $185.

$40 for a valve stuck to a jar lid is absurd, assuming it hasn't burnt out you can likely sell it for more than that to people who restore old TVs, radios and audio things.

I dunno, I think you could argue that the pillowcase at least would appeal to the Steampunk subculture.

The rest of it though is just crass commercialism.

I have a similar reaction to when people just spray-paint something bronze and call it Steampunk. Usually Nerf guns or toy sonic screwdrivers, and in one case...

Nerf guns can be done quite well, ive seen some very convincing ones. Sonic screwdrivers I've never seen....

And that gameboy is.....special.

With that colour? Cyberpunk at best. The pink plush isn't helping either.

Those cameras are not very steam age at all?

It's copper top hat and has a clockface. It isn't very steampunk still....hmmm
