Sarcastic Coffeecup
I've pieced together a bit of a collage that describes myself with song lyrics (with a couple of fillers) that I felt like I could relate to, or just enjoyed a lot onto my Steam page. I quite like the mashup so I'm just gonna paste it here.Features lyrics/references from songs such as "Everything's alright", "Communication sublime", "Chequered light buildings", "Dream of stone", "Glass prison" and "Shattered Fortress", also a line or two from Dear Esther. When this world is no more, the Moon is all we see. We will leave twin vapour trails in the air, white lines etched into these rocks. We stood at the edge of the world. Everything is alright, we can be ghosts now. I’ve begun my voyage in a paper boat without a bottom; I will fly to the moon in it. Here I stand, crestfallen, forlorn. But I still stand. If I tell you what I'm seeing, will you tell me what is true? I'll show you my collection of memories where we are together, but are they just lies of my own? A glass prison where I can only watch, sheltered in a shattered fortress. And I'm hanging on by the fingernails. A weathered monolith in the garden of dreams, a lighthouse lost without a shepherd. Endless/Nameless
This is my favorite song of all time, and the song that made me get into music in a real way. It perfectly sums up how I feel when listening to music. Someone please play it at my funeral. Artist: Bob Dylan Title: Mr. Tambourine Man Hey, Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey, Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you. Though I know that evenin's empire has returned into sand Vanished from my hand Left me blindly here to stand but still not sleeping My weariness amazes me, I'm branded on my feet I have no one to meet And the ancient empty street's too dead for dreaming. Hey, Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey, Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you. Take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin' ship My senses have been stripped, my hands can't feel to grip My toes too numb to step, wait only for my boot heels To be wanderin' I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to fade Into my own parade, cast your dancing spell my way I promise to go under it. Hey, Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey, Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you. Though you might hear laughin', spinnin' swingin' madly across the sun It's not aimed at anyone, it's just escapin' on the run And but for the sky there are no fences facin' And if you hear vague traces of skippin' reels of rhyme To your tambourine in time, it's just a ragged clown behind I wouldn't pay it any mind, it's just a shadow you're Seein' that he's chasing. Hey, Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey, Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you. Then take me disappearin' through the smoke rings of my mind Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves Let me forget about today until tomorrow. Hey, Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey, Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you.

Vaer
A good song for when I'm in a reflective mood. Artist: The Cat Empire Title: Miserere Do you ever look around turn your ear to the ground show your face to the sky on a night when the skies echoe sounds from inside of your mind on the stage that you shone where the sun did become you and move with your thoughts through the sighs and the scenes of the worlds you have seen and the sights that have been your reflection in shadows and dreams? - your reflection in shadows and dreams Did you ever see a man who did walk down the street white robe with no shoes on his feet and on top of his head place a box with two slits and the sign from his neck said 'I do not exist' or a woman who could not remember her name did stutter and stutter again and again and saw you and called you her son her eyes said 'my being is gone but still I'm not dead'? Miserere Have you ever seen a sound have you listened to an image have you ever touched a thought have you ever tasted nothing have you ever told a lie that was true more than truth because truth it had lied all its life when it spoke to you? And what did it say it is that it is this this goes here here is there it is not yes it is it was dulling your senses your eyes they were bound have you ever my friends been looking around? And the other replies with a wave of a hand I am already here in this promised land but not by a god and not by a king and not by a spirit deep from within I am here because a miracle's a whim it's a flash of glory it's an empty tin and maybe might lets you in not to save you but to keep on looking- Miserere Have you ever been so happy that you're sad? that the lights turn to stars and the stars become eyes and hello's are goodbye's and the laughs are the sigh's and the show disappears with the note 'until next time' Long live living if living can be this Long live living if living can be this Long live living if living can be this Long live living if living can be this Do you ever look around turn your ear to the ground show your face to the sky on a night when the skies echoe sounds from inside of your mind on the stage that you shone where the sun did become you and move with your thoughts through the sighs and the scenes of the worlds you have seen and the sights that have been your reflection in shadows and dreams Do you ever look around and find what is yet to be found? Terminal7
Grieves - Sunny Side of Hell [Intro] Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain Now the dark days are gone and the bright days are here And my sunny side shines [Verse 1] Come on man, not your same old shit I’ve been living steady wobbling on the edge Chasing life around in circles trying to decompress my head I feel it get intense, choose to break my bread and spread it around Take my every single thought into this pen and jot it down Cause it’s the truth to me, you should see It’s all that ever helped Held my shattered world together When I knocked it off the shelf into the blackness Tripping over broken hearts and homes And getting close enough to turn that kid inside of me to stone And I’ll admit it, cause I was never taught to give it up Sailed an ocean full of drug addicted misencouraged blood, without a paddle It took a lot of faith to fight my battles And tackle a couple of habits I never thought that I’d have to But did, bottle the water under the bridge And toss another written page of my history to the wind When it blows, cause all of this disaster has lead me home And left a lot of room for me to learn to grow Yeah, you are not alone [Chorus] Grab hold of yourself, I know what it’s like to get blown away I know you, you’ve done Your dirt and you’ve dug your graves And it feels like you won’t be saved I say grab hold yourself and face those days When you feel like it always rains I’ve seen the sunny side of hell, That which I never thought I’d find for myself Never thought I’d find for myself [Verse 2] Not your same old song I’ve been writing on a mirror with a razor blade And chased away the devil in my brain that played me like a spade Cause day to day, painted jaded faith issues a shade of gray And cowered, hid behind emotion just to play it safe A pawn, slowly turning victim to my wrongs I had to wake up all alone to finally figure out my wants In the house of haunted love the past will keep me warned and explain me Even if you’re listening through the storm I found a purpose and if you heard this then sit it down Pick its brain until it opens up and redirects the sound The conductor, frozen thunder rumbling through the ground With a perfect little twist of that suit of armor and crown You created, built for denying it Hiding the cuts and bruises due to the self-inflicted bone crushing anxiety I’m with you, so understand that all of this within you Has chiseled you a flower out of stone Yeah, you are not alone (Chorus) No, you are not alone... Endless/Nameless
I really like this song. Not so much because of the subject matter, which only mildly interests me; but because of how poetic it is. "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" -Gordon Lightfoot There was a time in this fair land when the railroad did not run When the wild majestic mountains stood alone against the sun Long before the white man and long before the wheel When the green dark forest was too silent to be real But time has no beginnings and hist'ry has no bounds As to this verdant country they came from all around They sailed upon her waterways and they walked the forests tall Built the mines, mills and the factories for the good of us all And when the young man's fancy was turnin' to the spring The railroad men grew restless for to hear the hammers ring Their minds were overflowing with the visions of their day And many a fortune won and lost and many a debt to pay For they looked in the future and what did they see They saw an iron road runnin' from the sea to the sea Bringin' the goods to a young growin' land all up through the seaports and into their hands Look away said they across this mighty land from the eastern shore to the western strand Bring in the workers and bring up the rails We gotta lay down the tracks and tear up the trails Open 'er heart let the life blood flow Gotta get on our way 'cause we're movin' too slow Bring in the workers and bring up the rails We're gonna lay down the tracks and tear up the trails Open 'er heart let the life blood flow Gotta get on our way 'cause we're movin' too slow Get on our way 'cause we're movin' too slow Behind the blue Rockies the sun is declinin' The stars, they come stealin' at the close of the day Across the wide prairie our loved ones lie sleeping Beyond the dark oceans in a place far away We are the navvies who work upon the railway Swingin' our hammers in the bright blazin' sun Livin' on stew and drinkin' bad whiskey Bendin' our backs 'til the long days are done We are the navvies who work upon the railway Swingin' our hammers in the bright blazin' sun Layin' down track and buildin' the bridges Bendin' our backs 'til the railroad is done So over the mountains and over the plains Into the muskeg and into the rain Up the St. Lawrence all the way to Gaspé Swingin' our hammers and drawin' our pay Drivin' 'em in and tyin' 'em down Away to the bunkhouse and into the town A dollar a day and a place for my head A drink to the livin', a toast to the dead Oh the song of the future has been sung All the battles have been won On the mountain tops we stand All the world at our command We have opened up the soil With our teardrops And our toil For there was a time in this fair land when the railroad did not run When the wild majestic mountains stood alone against the sun Long before the white man and long before the wheel When the green dark forest was too silent to be real When the green dark forest was too silent to be real And many are the dead men Too silent to be real

Toboe
One I like: Band: Saltatio Mortis Song: Prometheus Original (german) Text and Translation: http://lyricstranslate.com/en/prometheus-prometheus.html-1 Slightly altered translation (to better fit my understanding of the song): Recognize the people Their spirit is frozen Forced to live in eternal night Listen to their complaints Their enemy is the cold Damned to wait in eternal watch In the tail of the comets before clouds black as night I descend from Heaven, burning My hand holds fire My mind the knowledge I'll lay to rest the commandments of the gods I bring you fire the ability to know/understand* I bring you fire, and the wrath of the gods on the world I bring you fire the power to burn I bring you fire and the ashes that fall from Heaven To know means freedom to decide for yourself No destiny is conceived by the gods to inflame the spirit The seed of knowledge has made gods of the people. My work is done, the boundaries have fallen Ignorance, a broken curse However my punishment will appear unfathomable like a book written by the gods I bring you fire the ability to know/understand* I bring you fire, and the wrath of the gods on the world I bring you fire the power to burn I bring you fire and the ashes that fall from Heaven Forged in steel chained on the mountain damned by the gods saved by no one My eternal body a meal for the eagle The eternal punishment in the Caucasus valley I bring you fire the ability to know/understand* I bring you fire, A blaze that lights up the night I bring you fire the power to burn I bring you fire and the ashes that fall from Heaven I bring you fire I bring you fire I bring you fire the power to burn I bring you fire and the ashes that fall from Heaven *the lyrics contains Erkenntnis -> knowledge and the derived verb erkennen ->realize/recognize/understand
KyryK
Artist: Blind Willie Johnson, although this is from David Lindley's cover with slightly tweaked lyrics Song: Soul Of A Man I'm gonna ask a question, Please answer if you can If any you children can tell me What is the soul of man? What is the soul of a man? Won't somebody tell me, answer if you can Want somebody tell me, what is the soul of a man, what is the soul of a man? Well I've travelled in different countries, I've travelled foreign lands I've found nobody could tell me, about the soul of a man, about the soul of a man I saw a crowd stand talking, I just came up in time The teachers and the doctors and the lawyers, say a man ain't nothing but his mind, a man ain't nothing but his mind Won't somebody tell me, answer if you can Want somebody tell me, what is the soul of a man, what is the soul of a man? I read the bible often, I tries to read it right As far as I can understand, it ain't nothing but a burning light, it ain't nothing but a burning light Christ stood in the temple, the people stood amazed He was showing the doctors and the lawyers, how to raise a body from the grave, how to raise a body from the grave, raise a body from the grave, raise a body from the grave
