Deus Ex: Revision

So, I just learned that in about 30 minutes, Deus Ex: Revision will be released onto Steam. It's an overhaul of the first Deus Ex game's visual and audio assets, officially authorized by Square Enix and only available to the Steam version of the game.

This excites me more than it really should. There have been overhauls available for the game for years, but for some reason this is so much more interesting because it's actually authorized and distributed in a manner that (should) minimise the bothersome process of tinkering and fine-tuning the settings for your system.

Square Enix and Eidos-Montreal announced today that they have authorized a fan-created mod for the first Deus Ex game. Called ‘Revision’, the mod by Caustic Creative overhauls the environments and soundtrack of the original Deus Ex and is available to download for free later today on Steam.

Excellent with this one of the few reasons modern gamers would have to look over Deus Ex is abated.  I mean the ugly dated graphics are the only possible reason not to play this amazing gem of a game.

Also its currently 80% off on Steam so its only 1.39$ at the moment.

Seriously there is no longer any excuse!  If you have never played this game before go buy it now!

Only Deus Ex game I've played so far is HR. I now own the original. 80% off and a free mod to go with it? Tasty.

I doubt you'll regret it. Even though I absolutely adore Human Revolution, the original still holds a special place in my heart. And I try to run through it at least once a year, if not twice.

Well Steam was a true jackwad about it, kept having some unknown error for a good half hour before finally letting me buy it. << Hopefully I will find some time to play it soon. The amount of junk to get through in my library is too overwhelming at times that I forget about the games I really want to play.

Tell me about it. I buy bundles because they're cheap, then I realise I don't have time to play all the games at once.

Omg Finally

10 years have passed and still I can't beat even first level

Gotta admit, after returning again to it with Revision, I still get my ass handed to me. You really need to just be careful, since the NSF can hit you easily. Don't be afraid to use a bit of excessive force. Only try to knock down an enemy if you have a good amount of charges on your stun prod. If you don't, at least make sure they're alone. If there's more than one, try to get them to split up. Hit one with a tranq dart, then hide. Let the tranq kick in, then down the other with a pistol.

Totally official UNATCO guidelines.

I didn't much like Revision myself. It is still extremely incomplete and I felt the new "hd" models clashed a little too much with the original art style (especially Walton Simons's dead stare). And how a lot of the models just weren't updated, like Bob Page. Which is especially jarring since the intro features the two of them in the same room talking to each other.

Also the intro was changed so they weren't standing infront of the big hand statue in Hong Kong. Instead it was made to mimic the PS2's intro.

Personally I'd much rather they put the Nameless Mod on Steam. Which was incredible and is still amazing to this day.
