Eggdodger
The police landed a helicopter in the middle of our football field tonight for Homecoming. Two years ago, my oldest brother was poisoned by acquaintances of his in his own home. He called our mother several times complaining of intense abdominal pain and asking for "Pedialyte and strawberries". Neither item helped him. Besides that, my brother's phone showed several outgoing calls to 911- none of them went through, strangely. After he died and he was carried out of his apartment, it was robbed that same night. My brother drank a lot, but he was too young to have died from it, and he never touched drugs. The detective investigating the events surrounding his death managed to recover my brother's stolen music equipment, but only prosecuted his two acquaintances with "theft" and "theft by receiving", respectively. The toxicology report my brother's body was supposedly going under never came to fruition-- at least, we never got results back. Maybe the police just lost interest. The guys both had lots of drug money-- maybe a bribe took place (would explain the big drug problem in this town if police here did take bribes). Regardless, that report could have convicted his supposed "friends" for life if it had ever happened. The one charged with theft by receiving was back on the streets in a month, and occasionally visits my neighbor down the street. I thank whatever god is out there that he doesn't know what I look like. Not enough money or time to prosecute murderers, but plenty enough funding for their own personal chopper in a podunk horse-and-buggy town whose biggest claim to fame is getting a Wal-Mart a couple of years ago. A chopper that they can fly onto the school's football field just because. They didn't join the force for justice. They joined it for power and nice toys. These are the same police that tazed my mother without provocation, causing permanent nerve damage, and recently broke a woman's arm, and even more recently called for "back-up" and surrounded a 16-year-old girl's vehicle to search it. The same police that won't chase you if you jump over a fence because they're too fat to scale it (this is a well-known fact among drug dealers in my town) have their own chopper that serves no purpose in a town where two-story buildings are a rarity. I fucking hate this town. Edited October 17, 2015 by Eggdodger
Azure
cops are pretty much around to enforce security for corporate entities and prey upon minorities to boost their own budget and pad their arrest numbers so they recieve more funding from state and federal governmentssome of them are ok but most of them are just cunts on a power tripsmaller towns have this problem a lot because the community is easier to control and censor

Wolflich
Better not to fuck them—apparently they've pretty high rates of domestic abuse. I must admit the news that comes out of the US about their police is pretty disturbing. I expect a bit of that now and then when you take the average human being and give it power, but it seems pretty serious over there. Hopefully their culture can be dragged into the modern world now that it's getting harder to hide it and deny everything without someone uploading a video of them later. Mentova
Sounds like the department in your town is total garbage, always sucks to hear about shitty cops :cI also just applied for a job at a police station, do I get fucked too? Honestly, I've considered being a police officer, myself. I get that it's a lot of responsibility, but I doubt I could mess it up much worse than the people who don't give any fucks that stay on the force. Maybe if the whole "game design" thing doesn't work out. And I move. Far away.

The job I applied for is like a data entry/background check kinda job.But few things make me more sad than corrupt, shitty cops. Its depressing both because their job is supposed to help people and it gives the actual good cops a bad name. Some people just can't handle that shit though :c Edited October 17, 2015 by Mentova

MissFleece
When my grandfather was murdered by my uncle, we told the police exactly where he was and who helped him. They didn't attempt AT ALL to put any of them in jail, and only tried to arrest my uncle when he was at a public restaurant with my grandfather's credit card, a day later. He had a gun behind the dumpster of the place because he was waiting for his wife and daughter and shot himself when the police arrived. Good job police.Another fucking story:When I was 14 I lived at a horse rescue in the barn. My mom was their live in vet, and the boss lady asked us to dye a stolen horse black, brand it, and release it into the desert. My mother told the police, which I thought was a stupid idea because the boss lady was MARRIED to a cop. Of course they cover it up, and in one day we find ourselves homeless, without a phone (work phone) without a car (work car) and without any of the animals that were ours. I learned later that she let another dog rip apart my tiny fox terrier Patches. We lived in a horse stall for a couple weeks at the fair until we could sell enough to get on a bus to Florida. Thank god we knew the people who lived at the fair (they all trained race horses, it was awesome. One dude named Claude taught me how to day ride and his wife was named Bonnie, I thought that was hilarious), they kept it hush hush that we were living there. It was winter, but I was from Michigan so I was fine in Arizona winter, there wasn't even snow. Either way, fuck the police.

Zeke
Sad to hear shit like that happen to you OP, and even shittier that they didn't release any autopsy stuff that your family's entitled to have. What's worse is that the assholes are still on the street. About 2 years ago, my sister was assaulted by a police officer in DC. She had entered a McDonalds at the wrong time when a group of girls were harassing the staff and incidentally threw a cup at one of the workers, it missed and hit the police officer in line. The four girls bolted and the police officer ran after them, rammed into my sister and proceeded to beat, spray her with mace, and Taze her for "resisting, assaulting, and reached for his gun" . Some friends of the family decided to represent the case and displayed the security footage at the McDonalds and determined that the police officer was in the wrong and the PD had to pay for damages and such, but the police officer was not let go despite he had a LONG record of abusing citizens, mostly women. I told that story to a person that was a police fanatic, and she said that maybe my sister deserved it. Shitty cops like that make it hard to trust the law because you are not sure what they will do to you.

In any group of people that are empowered there's going to be a bunch of assholes. Some of them are cool and some of them are glorious people though.Cops, Politicians, Management, etc. it doesn't matter. Doesn't matter what's in their hands or what rags are on their body, people are people and the ability to exert any power over others just seems to turn out this way sometimes.

nurseeyeroll
The police and the DPS reports have a an influence over the District attorneys on whether or not to convene a Grand Jury in a District Court. Red and Milo were ran over by a retired corrections officer that owned a local doughnut shop that served peace officers free coffee. Granted the shop is allegedly "sold" now. There is definitely a "blue code" and peace officers protect their Own. Red's Truck was impacted directly and there was a turning lane.

nurseeyeroll
The DPS officer Chance Ensminger does not acknowledge the turning lane in his report. He blatantly blames RED and MILO does not acknowledge 2 witnesses that verbalized seeing the flashers on the front and the back. The Erath County District Attorney Alan Nash stated "there but the grace of God go I" about being distracted messing with the radio.. We will see if he presents to the Grand Jury. You can see the skid marks of Red's truck being pushed by Carl Garret's truck. Red's was trying to remove the spare under the Ford.
