Wigglin' on in, Ratmomma is here!

Hey all! I've chosen to go by Ratmomma here, but I'm more commonly known as Menageriecat or Kubie on FA, SF, IB, and Weasyl :3 I suppose my draw to this site is like most of the users here: FAF going up in smoke.

As my username implies, I'm a momma to some ratties! They're wonderful little loves, and I absolutely adore them <3 They're like children to me! With me currently are,

Rose Lucille

Shirley Anne

Arthur Bernard

Inkie Eleanor

They each have a middle name, because they're part of the family <3 I had four ratties before them, but they've sadly passed away.. They were:

Maxine Mae

Freyja Lila

Luna Marie

Opal Audrey

I had a rattie that was meant to come home to me as well, but she was sadly killed in a tragic accident before she could come home... her name was Ivy Bubblegum.

Ratties don't live long lives, so I strive to make their time here the best, and go out of my way to be the best momma ever <3

Aside from that, I'm also an artist! I focus on ferals and cartooning, and have gotten more into making anthro'd characters. I work with traditional media, but have focused on strengthening my digital media skills. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2013!

Ah~ I love ratties, wonderful little heartbreakers that they are, but I don't think I could do it again.

Here, have a welcome rat from my former rattiesona:

o3o Cuuuuute <3

And yeah... it's like I told my man, "You spend these 2yrs getting so close to these babies, and then they pass away, and it hurts so much." My oldest, Rosie, is 2yrs and 3mo right now. She's got a mammary tumor in her groin, and has the beginning stages of spinal root degeneration... Normally I'd be all for bringing her to the vet to remove the tumor, but due to her age, the SRD, and the fact that she's got a deformity in her chest (her blood related sister, Opal, had a similar deformity and never woke up from a routine mass removal surgery, and I strongly believe the deformity had something to do with it, as the surgeon suggested her heart couldn't take the anesthesia)...I've decided it's in her best interest to just let her live out her old age. As much as it kills me inside to have to make that decision, my heart tells me that this is the right choice T_T

Wait, aren't you the person why we have a fat bunny week over at FA?

Erm... I don't think so ^^;

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's so tough to be a rattie mama, but so rewarding. I adore all of the pets I've had, but I don't think I loved one more than I did my rats.

I had a pair of boys named Yoggie and Thune. Yogs was my heart rat, but he had chronic respiratory infections. We rushed him to our specialist more than once so he could be put into an oxygen chamber. It's tough to see, but after he passed by my vet pressed his paws in clay and made a little medallion for us. Thune was our tough old man rat, who nearly made it to three. He went wrapped in a warm baby blanket square, in my wife's hands.

Ohhhhhh my god, they're so cute <3 <3 And that's very sweet of your vet to do that. When my ratties pass on, the vet shaves some fur from them and puts it in a bag for me. I was unsure what to do when my Arthur passes though, as he's a double rex. I settled on getting paw prints from him via ink pad. I've got a table in the bedroom that a memorial to my ratties sits on. It sadly grows larger as another urn is added (they don't have the ashes in them though, as I scatter the ashes in a moving body of water. My line of thinking is that 'water is everywhere, and when I scatter these ashes into moving water, these ashes move with the water, and my rattie's spirit is kinda in there, and the water moves all over the world, and so my rats are always with me, because water is everywhere, and so too will my baby)...but also there's some comfort as well, because these babies of mine, though they're not here in body anymore, are always just a look away via that memorial, and they're always in my heart.

Well I found the person was Katmomma. Close enough I suppose. Welcome to the forums Rat.

Ah :P and yeah, close enough! Hell, i do love cats as well too, as my avatar derp shows (my big kitty, Kubie). Thank you for the welcome :D
