Laptop SODIMM memory in a full DIMM desktop board

Basically for my server I could have spent $50 to get 8GB of DDR3 memory for it but I had 2x4GB of DDR3 SODIMM memory from a laptop that had been in a drawer for a couple of years.  I found cheap SODIMM to DIMM pinout adaptors on eBay and paid $12 for the pair.  I saved money and recycled otherwise unused memory. :)  Plugged them in and they worked on the first try.

Well hey if it works it works. I thought it over a little and actually there is zero performance loss vs desktop ram unless of course its faster RAM or more costly but hey recycling certainly works fine :)

Yeah, it's running the same speed it would in a desktop, and it's just sitting in my i5 2300 powered server so it doesn't exactly need huge massive of overclocked RAM for performance.  It mostly just serves data and downloads things.
