DrGravitas
Ars Technica put out a Review on AMD's Ryzen CPU. 8-cores, 16 threads with strong workstation performance at $500. I think my next build might just be AMD! Still lots left to squeeze out of the current build, tho. Wonderful news, considering the dismal offerings under their Bulldozer architecture. Snagged
Yes, indeed AMD delivers yet again a cheaper alternative CPU optimized for workstations at a significantly lower price than Intel. However, according to article, it's gaming performance is sub-par in comparison to latest Intel 7xxx series, like how it is usual with AMD processors that are way ahead of their time as most AMD processors use more cores than most games can effectively use nowadays. If you want to run games with complex physics, heavy background scripts running and dynamic lighting effects, AMD unfortunately lags behind (pun intended). And surprisingly, according to benchmark test in the article, Ryzen in particular is particularly good for streaming content so if you're an avid streamer, Ryzen might just be right CPU for you
