Electronics you use are made overseas, oil that is used for everything from making plastics to delivering your food to your grocery stores is denominated in US dollars, and it's more difficult for Canadians to leave their country and travel, since suddenly the rest of the world is more expensive. But, point us, furry art should be free, because everyone deserves commissions, and Big Furry Art is just a greedy organization that isn't willing to share their wealth and skills. What you're describing though, isn't giving out artwork for free, but having a bunch of people give a dollar here, 50 cents there, and then having one person get free artwork based on the pool of money collected. Yeah, pay for some crazy thing you want to commission (like 75 bones for a junk avatar), but when you have an organ or two that decide to call it quits, it's pretty fucking handy to be able to call a doctor without emptying your wallet...
