Avatar 2 Concept Art

I hope Avatar 2 is actually interesting beyond its visuals. Avatar was a gorgeous movie, one that I still watch every so often for the alien nature porn alone. But the story was not only unoriginal, it wasn't even really told in an interesting way to make up for that fact. Like, plenty of movies today aren't wholly original, but so many still manage to tell an old story a new way.

I want to like Avatar 2 for more than just the visuals is what I'm saying. I want it to be something that I put on, and actually -watch-. Rather than just put on the second screen while I'm doing something else, and only occasionally look over, say 'ooh that's really pretty!', and return my attention to the first thing.

James Cameron needs to calm his damn tits

To be fair, making the two most financially successful movies in history kind of makes me think he'll get to make as many shitty Smurf fanfics he wants. I mean Avatar 2-40 could just be 3 hours of James Cameron personally taking a shit on a sack of money and he'd still make a bajillion dollars, I mean it's not like anyone would be able to tell the difference. ooo sik burn [insert link to list of burn centers on wikipedia]

Avatar was compelling the first time I watched it. It was because of the visually stunning effects, the bright colors of the Na'Vi, their jungle environment and the interesting creatures that were created, but the plot was shopworn material and will likely show its wear and tear in the sequel. No one will be stunned by the visuals anymore.

I have some very slight hope that the first one only had such a worn out plot so that there was less chance of ruining it as a technology demo with a flop of a story, and that therefore maybe sequels will attempt something a little more ambitious story-wise, but at the same time I'm fully expecting either an extension of the war from the first film or something like 'The Lion King 2: IN SPACE' where we just follow up with the family of the main characters.

Also the article is now saying the twitter account was fake and it isn't really concept art from the second film. Granted I doubt it makes much difference because that picture is hardly revealing anything new and could probably apply just as well to any of them.
