FurrTrax.com, An up and coming Furry Social Network is looking for skilled Furs to fill some positions.

We need moderators, who are level headed, and objective.

We need CSS/GFX Design assistance.

Were also looking for people to fulfill roles such as PR, Liaison, Advisors(multiple subjects), Columnists, News and Article Contributors, Mediators, and we hope to put togeather a Media Team, to work on videos, and other media.

Applicants can apply for multiple roles as well.

Once we are a bit more established, and get a bit more donations, we also want to get a group of Liaisons to attend and represent us at Conventions, in which we would pay for your Con Entry Fees.  But thats a bit off.

Interested partys can respond here.

The site is operating at a loss, i fund it out of pocket as a service to the community.

With good promotion however the site could easily be self sustaining as ive kept the operating costs far lower than furaffinity, or furnations massive monthly costs which i believe are completely obscene, and in FAs case, i think its a flat out lie and that the costs are exaggerated so "someone" can pocket the extra.

FurrTrax monthly costs are:

$70/mo for the rack-space - We own our infrastructure, we do not rent servers.  So cheap because my buddy is the manager at the NOC.
$35/mo for Cloudflare
$120/yr for CDN Server
this does not count domain renewal costs, and one off costs that occur durring the year of course.

And this cost should scale very efficiently as we already have gigabit fiber pipes rolled into that cost, and were only utilizing about 5-10% at max, of our capacity of users and bandwidth.

Yeah, that's quite obvious given the ugly site interface. Oh well, humble beginnings I guess.

Aaaaaanyway, if you need a chat or forum moderator, I am up for  the task. I am currently moderating a general chatroom (with a large furry base) in Kongregate.com and I've also been a forum mod for various sites a few times

Im a Network Engineer and Programmer, i wrote the entire codebase for the site from scratch, but im not a CSS or Graphics guru, nor do i have the proper programs for such either.  Everything was written in textual form, even the templates were made using G-Edit, None of the site was created using traditional HTML editors....

I know the graphics need work, but atm i have noone to help with that.

Not looking for programmers I take it. What is the site made with?

PHP, MySQL, jQuery, some javascript, as well as some custom daemons on the server that handle scheduled tasks.

The codebase as far as functionality i can handle.  But i might entertain some extra talent there, its just the looks are the top priority.

Why would you write it in the worst things.

That is a matter of opinion....

I mean I can cite multiple academic resources if you want. I'm kinda confused why a dev free from his corporate desk-attached shackle would continue to use PissHPee. I'm also confused why you're hosting an unfinished site live, production, without first having an on board designer, while running at a loss. Also, you're advertising which is against the rules I believe.

Want someone to pen test that for you? c:

First off your opinion of php is irrelevant to me.  Second, the site has been up for nearly 3 years, it was a finished site, but i am continually adding to it and expanding it.

I host the site for the community, not to make a profit.  Contrary to popular belief there are still charitable people in the world.

And advertising?  im looking for assistance with this thread, if i wanted to advertise i would have just posted a banner and said come join us......

You seem to be picking at the topic needlessly.  If you dislike it, you dont have to be a party to it....   That doesnt mean others feel the same way however.

Go right ahead, ive contracted out pentesting several times to make sure the system was secure.

Lets see what you can manage to do, if anything!

btw, ive done my own runs of SQLmap against it already, so youll need to do something a little more then that ;)

I'd need more of a formal invitation than that. Also I think we have a resident designer around here somewhere, so good luck.

IF there are any security flaws i would rather find and fix them, than try to cover them up and pretend the boat isnt sinking.

BTW im also a certified computer forensics specialist so ive been around the block a bit ;)

He is a lunatic, and shouldnt be allowed to manage anything.....

BTW, the specs im rolling, and we OWN all our infrastructure as i said before, we dont rent our actual servers.

If I have time later this week I might poke around. I'm super lazy.

I'll probs run the regular list of script kiddy shit and then go from there.

It's not a great language, but it's widely supported and has a lot of mature frameworks available. If I were to get back into web development, I'd choose to learn Python probably, but I'm a lazy piece of shit.

What does this site even offer than other sites do not or have not in the past?
What would make people interested in taking these positions, or joining in general?

What I see is like an eye-searing 2002 version of Furry Network or something, combined with a "meet up and fuck" aspect.
And people can do that easily via communication.

I just don't get it.

Most of the reasons I saw listed in the "about" page basically boiled down to some anus-pained sense of rebellion, after being scammed on really sketchy dating sites.
And I just don't know why that's a good foundation for basis of an entire site.

Getting a better look at the site, it seems this is its major purpose... and with that knowledge my interests in aiding it are curtailed. I don't need to put up with that sort of drama

Its not a bad idea if well managed.

the site did not originally offer singles and dating features, those were only added in the last 8-12 months after i became aware of the other scam sites.

the original purpose was live chat, video chat, forums, event collaboration and planning, social media like a furry version of facebook, as well as a sales section where artists and other creative people could offer things they made for sale on the site as well.

The biggest goal was to make the site equal or better feature wise to others, but keep it ethical unlike whats happenned with FA, and some others.

Many things spurred me to build this, 1 was when YiFFr went down and i saw opportunity to pickup their share of users, the other was when i was publicly insulted by dragoneer for reporting some issues on FA, and then saw how many times he has done the same to others,  And then i added the dating and singles stuff when i found out about the scams on furrymate and their sister sites in which they trick people into paying for accounts by making bots message them pretending to be interested in them.  thus they were exploiting the lonely and insecure members of the fandom to make a profit.

A great deal of anger went into the creation of this site quite honestly. but it was with the intent to make a site that would bury the others, and give everyone an equal and ethical playing field on a site that wasnt run by some maniac.  Granted i am a maniac to, but in a redneck way, and i believe in things it appears many other site owners do not.

Ive been trying to find staff that share the same belief.....  Not scamming people, keeping the ethics up at least above water, and giving people some freedom to use the site as they see fit within reason of course.

I also offer free web-hosting to furs that includes CloudFlare pro protection, and for a small fee they can get database support, and unlimited space.  Something to temp those who would like to host their own small sites.
