Falaffel
That's actually amazing. I had a good laugh. The DLC did what it intended to do in this case.

TrishaCat
That collector's edition reminds me of this: But uh...yeah. I actually think Gal Gun looks really fun, but $90 DLC? No thanks. EDIT: One thing that kinda sucks is that EB Games in Australia decided to stop selling this game along with Senran Kagura games recently. I remember in the co op my friend was stuck, unable to move below the top half of the screen. There was a Ducker mobile cannon mid boss that literally just vanished in one of the stages sometimes. Sometimes enemy shots would disappear. Despite all of this, the game was still shockingly easy. Kirby Epic Yarn was harder. My 12 year old niece 1cc'd this junk on her first try on "insane" dying only once. Bad animations, ugly environments, gross sexualization of underaged girls, and forgettable music. Weebs liked it because "THE ARTIST OF SGT FROG!!!!". You made a smart choice leaving this degeneracy on the shelf.

TrishaCat
...All that stuff in the packaging in that video made me want to get that game. I even like the character designs. But once it got to the gameplay itself all interest just totally died. That gameplay looks slow and boring and super easy. These kinds of games are supposed to be brutally hard. Where's the bullets flying across the screen at high speeds all over the place? Plus the 3D graphics are UGLY. Why couldn't they make the actual gameplay be as gorgeous and well animated as the 2D character art?

Well they had to tone down the difficulty since people were having trouble playing one-handed.

Why couldn't they make the actual gameplay be as gorgeous and well animated as the 2D character art? I felt beyond uncomfortable having actually played this. Thank fuck I didn't BUY it. They did make good Parody games back in the day, but they were really wacky and actually good fun. Parodius Da was actually hard really hard. These were shameless because they know the little lolis and the little idols (Thanks a lot Touhou! Actually, fuck off.) and garbage anime intros/songs are what sells in shooters today. But a good game? Well... At least in game they had a real art gallery that actually showed everything beyond 12 year olds in bikinis. A lot of the machine and level concept art is really neat and there's a lot of it you can unlock. I love art galleries in games. Probably the only good part about this game. Lots of unlockables you had to earn which is something I don't see very often.

Sarcastic Coffeecup
I like that it's getting banned. It's a cautionary warning for people with underlying pedophilic traits that the excuse "It's just japanese" is wearing really thin.

TrishaCat
I posted the news in frustration. I am not happy with this ban, and it bugs me that there are countries that offer less freedom to their citizens than mine. I don't care for the censorship of art. Its also really odd that this is New Zealand doing this; the games New Zealand has banned don't have any consistency: Gal Gun: Double Peace Manhunt Manhunt 2 Postal 2 Rapelay Reservoir Dogs Three Sisters' Story The fact that a single person personally handpicked Gal Gun of all the games out there and submitted it for review in NZ is really strange and somewhat terrifying with regards to the amount of power a single person can have over the content that an entire country consumes. I would say that I hope that those in New Zealand raise hell over it, but I know they won't. I just keep being reminded that even 9 years later Neil Gaiman's writings continue to hold relevancy. EDIT: Suspiciously the game is now on sale on Steam. I suspect the publishers are using this as a means of promoting the game. I'm happy for them. I hope they get as many sales as they can, as right now the sale count is disappointingly low.

Tsuujou
It really isn't anything to get emotionally invested in. I don't think a lot of New Zealand folk even know about this game enough to care. Isn't even a good game like other stuff that's been banned or censored to hell and back, like GTA, Mortal Kombat, or Left 4 Dead. I don't know, I personally would be VERY ashamed of what I see in the mirror fighting to get something like this unbanned. And I can't be surprised by the low sales. I mean, it's a niche game for one. Arcade games aren't popular at all. And then......just look at it. :l Just get LA MachineGuns on the Wii. Eh, that's just one site. "Hardcore gamers" are a much smaller demographic than you'd think. Usually anyway. Even if it were multiple larger sites of similar climate, I still wouldn't be too surprised to know this game flopped.
Guest
Just letting people know I added a "nsfw" warning/tag for the thread. Wonder if we should have a Links section in the RL?
TrishaCat
Considering this isn't pornographic in nature, why would it need to be in RL? RL is for 18+ content right? This game is rated 17+ in the US (ESRB M), 17+ in Japan (Cero D), and 16+ in Europe (PEGI 16).

That's generally what I classify as NSFW for image heavy threads that aren't/don't need to be in RL. I had no idea what gal gun was till I opened it and had lolis and panties in full view. Just a lil courtesy for anyone else before they click. . Second half is my bad; I considered it as an offhand remark, thinking maybe it'd be helpful in the future since we have an RP area unused, but it seems like nsfw links would be more popular.
