Meant to be sung to the Bob Marley tune of No Woman No Cry.

Hi guys. I'm still around. Bitcoin conference in Toronto has been "postponed," probably because no one wanted to pay $700 per ticket. I still want to drive up there, but no idea when that will be possible. Personally just been very busy. Almost done with my pilot school, and spending lots of time (re)learning programming, 3D design, AI, and robotics (I got a 3D printer...). Also hubby just bought a new house, after we spent weeks looking through a bunch of them (he's buying so only his name is on the loan so none of my finances are officially published, but I showed the underwriter my bitcoin balance, so they're very happy to give him a loan knowing I can cover it if he gets in trouble). So it's been a very busy few weeks.

Yes, the exchange hack sucked, but until last time with MtGox, there's dozens of other exchanges around the world, so it's all fine.

sounds like an exciting time right now. I know the Toronto Reference Library has a 3D printer they'll train anyone on. Is there something in particular you're thinking of making?

I have a bitcoin update as well. My $5 worth of bitcoins is now $4.52 of bitcoins. This is not good.

I'm sorry bud but things are likely going to get worse before they get better in the global furconomy. Could be in for a rough go the rest of 2016... hang in there and don't sell those bits.

A Robot with AI ability, a CNC machine to manufacture aluminum plates and things I can't 3D print, then with that and the 3D printer a gardening robot to grow veggies in our back yard at the new house, and maybe a dining room table, with glass top, rods for legs, and 3D printed connectors to hold it all together, which looks like this, but we can make on the cheap from parts we get at Home Depot (the one in the picture is $3,000, and I hope to make mine for under $100).

Just like any other currency, you're still holding on to a promise to get something else at a future point. The value of such promises fluctuates with what you can get and with other promises.

If someone gave me a choice between having a house in Thunder Bay and having cancer...

I'd choose cancer.

Get a house in Goderich so you can fish bass forever

edit: even better, get a house in Benmiller

went a few months ago to fish bass on the maitland river, it was a bass on the line every 30 seconds. Was literally catching em with worms on hooks

hoing back in fall for salmon

Why do you think telling me about how you murder my people is entertaining?

statistically, if you move to Thunder Bay you have a greater chance of developing cancer

Doesn't canadia land have serious problems with this due to the black sands facilities there (Oil Processing)?

I remeber reading or seeing in my highschool enviromental sciences class that essentially native tribes who eat alot of fish there have absurd rates of cancer due to it.

Kind of like how a section of a town near here (Bristow OK) was used as a dumping ground for toxic oil waste and is now cordoned off by the EPA due to the fact it is like death. Also one of my customers neighbors horses was walking along near it and sunk in the ground and died in a pool of toxins.

Nope.

Oil sands are basically shut down now due to the drop in oil prices.

Tar sands are only in Alberta. Not a lot of fishing in Alberta. It is in the middle of the country nowhere near the ocean.

pretty much anywhere in the country where there was/is heavy industry. The tar sands are Alberta though, Thunder Bay was paper mills and mines farther north.

well yes and no

the oil sands are over in alberta, which is about as far from thunderbay as new york to california. I think you might be closer to the oil sands than thunderbay is

but yeah natives in general have absurd rates of cancer for a plethora of reasons. The main one being that construction companies hired to build homes and water systems in the reservations by the canadian gov't embezzled a lot of the cash and built really shoddy homes and a pipe system comparable to what's happening in Flint Michigan

Outside the reserves in Ontario there's a bit of pollution in the smoggier areas (lmao Hamilton) but like, I don't have a frame of reference to say whether our air is above or below average in cleanliness

Did Canadian housing market crash recently? I read somewhere that there was a 20% crash in prices as some new law or tax was passed that made a lot of Chinese who were stashing their wealth in Canadian real estate drop their purchases and look elsewhere.

Nah housing is still absurdly expensive. There may have been a drop like that after that law got passed, but for some reason I thought it was isolated to Vancouver/BC and not federal. I'm sure the housing bubble will still pop soonish though, and when it does it'll bring this country to its knees. Canadians already have a higher debt-to-income ratio than Americans did during the 2008 crisis, mostly tied up in their mortgages! Keep up the good work!!

Yeah prices dropped in BC.

People were upset that wealthy Chinese people were buying lots of houses so they made a law (totally racist BTW) to prevent it. They might as well have just said "asians not welcome."

Now house prices are dropping and they are all angry that their economy sucks and their houses are worth less.

Hooray socialism!

If it's any consolation Australia's household debt to GDP ratio is also higher than the USA, and the big four banks combined "assets" (mostly loans) equal 220% of our GDP compared to the big four banks in USA having combined assets being about 50% of GDP.

Of course none of this is mentioned in the mainstream media and the ex-Goldman Sachs banker we have for a prime minister says things will be fine as long as we're "more agile and innovative".

As for Canadian house prices, they can only soar for so long (mostly on debt/speculation) before something brings them down.
