Booooo. Spending vacations at home sleeping just bum me out by the timer they're over because I feel I just wasted my time.

Actually, vacations for my family before used to be driving over to the hotel across town and abusing their wifi and their pool.

I used to go camping before when I was smaller. Good times, I'll always remember 'em fondly

Idro Lake, that was the spot, up in northern Italy, next to the more famous Garda Lake. Even so, there were only strangers there, mostly germans and dutchies

Never thought I would miss it so much. It was at dawn that the place was most beautiful

I feel all sociable today so I'm going to go out and see people and ask some further away people if they want to hang out soon. Last night I met with my furmeet buddies and we talked shit at some pub, and I'm still in a good mood from that.

I cannot stay on my own for long. I'm glad adulthood has meant a richer social life, I just hope I don't lose them all to family raising, I don't think I will because most of my friends aren't the breeding type. Out of choice that is, not because they're all losers.

Since FA is in read-only mode, and I can't post a link to my art stream there, I will post it here instead. I am working on a boring comic. The stream is just to help me focus more than anything, so while you're welcome to join, I'm not concerned either way. I will remove the link when I'm done.

Edit: Aaaaand my computer exploded. Ah well, gave it a shot.

My soon to be fiance wants me to join her in bed more nights then I'm really wanting to so that she can snuggle me and fall asleep in my arms. While I enjoy going to sleep with her, I'm not really always ready when she is to go to bed. So I sit here on forums trying to unwind till I'd be ready to sleep, go me.

Ahh. He is hard to get used to at first. Probably the weakest Doctor of the reboot, but even then, still really damn good.

Eccleston is still my fave.

But why replace him? You're not supposed to switch the main cast like that. That's like, one of the golden rules. Now I have to, like, develope a relationship with this new guy. Yayyyyyy. :v

That's kinda what the series does, there's different actors that play the doctor over the years, it's part of the show's overall plotting. If an actor gets bored of doing the show, they can be replaced via regeneration.

It's a pretty convenient way to prevent the show from dying out. Doctor Who will go on as long as there are people who want to work on it.

I wonder if anyone will eventually kill the doctor and end the series. I mean, you can only replenish his regenerations so many times before it starts feeling cheap. Obviously it won't happen while the show's still popular, but it'd be interesting to see how they go about it.

It makes the show feel half-assed and inconsistent. If switching the main character is and attempt to keep it feeling fresh, then more energy should be put into better production value, otherwise it's pointless building a relationship with the main cast only to have them killed off each season.

Characters don't last though, they are almost constantly being killed off, even characters that have a good rep with the doctor or are enjoyable don't always get to stay around forever. It may be an unappealing appeal, but it's something that the whovians have grown accustomed to.

It is because the main character moves on to other things, or is replacing the Dr. part of the story, and to what purpose?

Both, either the actor wants to do more then focus their time on the show alone, and there's plot points that require the doctor to regenerate as well. There is always a need for the regeneration to occur when it does..

I haven't watched much outside of smith besides various youtube type things, so if your bored enough to look there you might get some answers from real whovians.

If you think the production value is bad now just go watch some of the eps from the original series. At times it barely passes for television.

And yeah, the regeneration cycle etc may seem weird and unorthodox to an outsider, but it's been a part of the overarching story for years, and really does work to keep things fresh and interesting. At least they didn't pull a James Bond and just keep getting replacement actors.

Why has no one created a Dr. Who thread??

Sounds like the main cast needs to be given longer contracts to me. The regeneration thing I get, but to change him completely blows.

That's exactly what they are doing with "The Dr."

Despite all of it's... inconsistencies, does the show regain any of its comedic value after the second season, or does it stay super serious? I quite like the comedic value.

You realise that it's a series that has been going on since the 60s, right? It's an actual long-running plot device.

I realize that but the actors that play the main characters seem to have a short lifespan in the 2005 edition of the show...

In any case, the show stands well on its own merit despite my gripes.
