Oh man I am so happy. A few months ago, as some of you may know, I created a small mural of Beach Bear and Rolfe DeWolfe. And, last night, I decided to email Mr. Aaron Fechter himself, showing him the work I did. He fucking called my artwork beautiful. I haven't been this happy in so long, it's kind of embarrassing

This is relevant to my ruin/decay fascination, so I'd like to see more of these. Only request, a bit less shaky-cam on the next run? Not saying you need to run steady-cam rigs, but this mounting was a little prone to wobbling. Otherwise, good fun and interesting.

I ran into one of your flat-faced barn owl cousins. He flew up out of a vertical shaft I was looking down in earlier today.

Must've been a real hoot.

Really, if you have more stuff like this, I'd be very interested in seeing and hearing more. Just listening to you analyzing the rock is fascinating

That was my first video, and as long as I don't go dying in a cave-in, I might be popping a new one up every weekend.

That'd be great. Looking forward to it.

Speaking of cave-ins, that cave was super soft, Looked like you could rip the whole wall apart with your bare hands. No wonder they stopped the excavations.

Sweet Jesus; I just came across a furry who is trying to raise money for surgery.

...turns out that they've given themselves respiratory problems, which need surgical intervention, by wearing a breast binder for several years

O_o

Aren't you supposed to wear those for only like a few hours at a time or your whole chest anatomy becomes screwed? I've only seen like one picture of what happens when you have them on for too long and it looks terrible.

Indeed. I'm a little bit tentative about criticising the user in question too severely, because it strikes me that a woman desperate enough to damage her health, so that she can look as if she has no breasts, may well have a mental health problem. :\

I just feel bad for this person.

How much you want to bet after the surgery they'll keep wearing it like that again?

Good luck with the job I assume you're applying for.

So I found this when I was browsing twitter: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CVZZ67BVAAABMer.jpg I am quite surprised this exists, because furries tend to be a bunch of lefties, but it is beautifully made.

I also found out that the Korean DMZ is guarded by at least 1 diaperfur who is employed to drive tanks. I mean, I guess it's not that unbelievable, but it rather ruins the tension of the cinematic, politically charged DMZ that exists in my imagination, with automated south Korean kill bots and phony north Korean border towns.

The original person who made  the suit wanted to honor the SC flag and it's removal. The reason why the flag was flown on the SC captiol to begin with was in protest against the anti-lynching legislative, desegregation and abolishment of the Jim Crow laws in the sixties. No one really paid much attention to it since civil rights leaders were too focused on securing rights. Now, people paid attention to it.

The sewing for the back was done well, but the head needs work.

People calling for the destruction of the suit was also ridiculously stupid as well. Even as a "lefty", if a person wants to make something like that, it's their creative right. Creativity and all that. It doesn't absolve you from criticism, and neither the people calling for to be vandalized. People who also called for the costume to be vandalized should also reap the "rewards" for their stupidity.

This is amazing, and it sounds like the summary of a bad comedic mockumentary.

I bought tomb raider: Angel of Darkness on steam when it was a buck. it's bad...

Like the controls and mechanics are unbelievably bad. The puzzles stink. Storyline's...ehh...okay, but I do love the urban exploration. I just feel that it could've been done much better.

This is actually a thing? Some of these look incredible. Real beauties
Especially loving that curved mirror platform, makes them look like kinetic art. Wouldn't mind the basic looking lambda one but good grief those are expensive nonetheless.

I watched the whole thing. I had no idea this was a thing, and it looks cool.

I personally will likely not be buying these, but I don't condemn the hobby like the guy thinks many would do.

Personally I struggle to see why so many people on the political left seek the destruction of symbols which they feel are emblematic of ideas or attitudes they dislike. At my university there has recently been a student campaign to remove a statue of Cecil Rhodes, who was an Anglo-Saxon supremacist.

I think such student protests are silly, because no student was walking around my university feeling oppressed because of some statue. I doubt most of them even realised there was a statue of Rhodes in Oriel.

I've been in to the actual Rhodes building a couple of times and it's full of badly painted images of Nelson Mandela...the white guilt cringe.

Why can't we just accept that not every significant historical figure necessarily held views that we would view as politically sensitive today, and move the fuck on with our lifes and maybe concentrate on real issues, instead of imagined persecution exuded from sculptures or pieces of art?

I wish I knew the answer to that.

I do feel that we should have open dialogue instead of destroying it or banning it. Because banning something, especially historical things never fixes the problems to begin with. It creates a potential for it to be repeated and shows that remembering the past for all it's glory and faults is pointless. Destroying a monument will not automatically heal scars, nor is banning the use of a stupid flag that trashy people use. When people bring up the topic of destroying it, I am always against it. It really does nothing but cover up history.

EDIT: We should talk more about hot-button topics that were known to cause problems in the past and exist to this day. Talking, not pointing fingers and calling someone names, helps. The more we open up about issues, the more we can work on bettering ourselves and the future. The way we are now as "All or nothing" folks isn't right and there's no sense of balance.

At least in most western nations free expression is generally accepted outside of University 'safe spaces'.

In Germany you can actually be prosecuted for using officially banned symbols. A professor of high German told me that when she was in Germany, one of her students was apprehended by the police because he had a satchel with a swastika with a line struck through it stitched on the back.

You can be imprisoned for up to 6 years if you are deemed to have an 'offensive tattoo'.

I saw a patron with a an "eagle carrying a swastika tattoo" on the back of his head in the college library. Security wrinkled their noses at it, but community colleges don't really do much about it as long as he isn't promoting hate speech.

No use of swastikas at all, even for Hindus and Buddhists?

You are exempt if you can prove you have 'artistic motivations', and I expect religious symbols may be exempt too.

Also I guess he's a massive attention-whore since he also copied some dead guys fursuit at some point just to piss people off.

I usually talk to my friends on group chats on skype, but I no longer have access to that ...or time to spend time with people (games or something, idk)

I still have here though luckily but the IMs are fun and special in a different way, too.
