But anyways, how about a comparison? Post a picture of your very first fursona and a picture of your current one! As for mine...There was a lot of minute changes that went along in the design, but they mean a big difference. Ultimately I kept the same basic look with more specific details.When I first started it was only a basic idea of what I wanted (color-wise), and the name sucked so muchLater I*Simplified the design, making only the forelegs, back leg, tailtip, both outer ears, and face framing magenta(fuschia/hot pink/what-have-you)*I eventually gave them a lighter underbelly, light grey/silver*In anthro I only made the magenta go up to the elbow, in feral it was kept as is*I ended up darkening the pink a tad*I added wings, this was based on several factors (I enjoyed the fantastical nature of winged canid art, I dreamt of flying a lot, the maximum ride series was my favorite)*I gave her black hair*I changed the name from that mess "wolfxis nightvale" to "Vanna Nyx", nicknamed Van*I gave them black hair, I kept the flop of hair over the left eye but I made that black too*I changed the ears to be different colored, one ear black outer pink inner, pink outer black inner*I gave them grey splotches on their tongue*I gave them stretchers/gauges, I'd keep it on still but I leave it off most times. I just sort of re-used the character I created for a comic project in high school's art class. I still have the very first sketch I drew in class at the time.This is from before I started taking the thing seriously. It actually took a long time before I bothered to do more than just doodling around. But even the sketch alone has improved fortunately!As of the lineart, my first experiments with a Copic brush pen are quite encouraging, so I'm going to order good quality sable brushes and ink to do my lineart. I'm hopeless with a tablet anyway. I may do OK with it for the colouring though. I also feel like giving Corel Painter Essentials a try. I think I was 13 or 14 when I first drew Willow. and then this is the most recent picture I've drawn of him. his colors are the same, I was just doing a limited palette challenge maybe one day I'll update his ref sheet though because I haven't made a new one since 2013. Then I made an "official" one which was just a calico cat since I like cats and couldn't draw muzzles. Then in 2013 I made a bonobo fursona who is quite literally just me but bonobo version, though for creative purposes has had all sorts of backstories aand stuff. Currently is just a run of the mill bonobo in a zoo, not anthro or anything. I kinda have two versions, furry fandom version and just general purposes. I didn't draw this picture it's a lovely commission I had done. During 2013 I had a sloth idea but that never took off. I've been trying to draw parrots so I can design a new fursona, a male African grey called Nathaniel. Going to make him anthro and a lover of Hawaiian shirts. But I just need to get bird proportions memorised before I can even think about designing an anthro. When I made the bonobo fursona I didn't have a design for a whole year but I didn't need one because I'm an ape person anyway. The parrot is more of a purely creative venture. And the most recent SFW one Things that changed: - Her name. - She got stripes on her back that I've literally never drawn outside of her ref because she's always worn clothes. - I changed her back story so she was born on Earth instead of having moved there earlier in life. - She got more piercings as I got them. I recall it started as a feral character, so hair and clothing was still all a novelty for me. Welp, here's Valy :U The orange markings aren't used anymore, hairdo and muzzle shape are changed, and I guess the rest of the abominations comes from the fact that I was still dabbling in the whole "art" thing. I remember a schoolmate of mine saying "you know what would be cool? A black wolf character with silver markings here and there", but I opted for earth tones as they looked more pleasing to the eye; little did I know that was a perfect description for an early sparklewolf. I moved on to a toony fox character, then a sergal. About that time I started to put work into my new character's back story. It started as fanficfion/a continuation of Mick39's unfinished novellas, but then, as I got more into scifi and fantasy, morphed into something original. Now he's back to being a gold dragon, but this time a feral. In fact, I now havs two dragon characters, my gold dragon Calemeyr, and my new glacier dragoness Fimbulvetr (which I have a suit of, see my avatar). The unseen world of his has changed a lot though, personality revamps a couple of times. First he was this ignoramus, all about them glows and stupid stuff. Rather vanilla raver type one might say. He later had a bit of a breakdown, I experimented with a variety of faults. Went with the oldie look inspired by Lackadaisy. Built upon the roaring twenties, and added my fascination to psychology into the mix, and now he's schizophrenic living in a delusion with a touch of dissociative identity disorder to go with. Name change too from Reyzar to Rey since people kept fucking it up as Razor, which is far too edgy. And that's Rey as he is today. I've debated ditching the green stripes, but otherwise there's not much indication to tell him apart save for the scar under his eye he inflicted upon himself.
