Unfortunately, the US has little in the way of vocational schools. Some skills, like welding, have well established training programs including within the public sector, but those are very much the exceptions. For the most part you're just looking at an endless sea of absolutely useless for-profit courses designed to prey on the desperate.

Vallium
When you work in the healthcare/general care field, you naturally have to handle situations with feces and urine quite a bit. For some reason I find some more tolerable than others A list of such things, imo: animals>babies&infants>elderly>sick/hospitalized>sanitation worker>pretty much anything else>Perfectly continent people who cant act like civilized human beings and make a freaking mess for you to clean after. like...if I ever had to do any kinds of work that necessitated dealing with waste deposits I do not envy hotel and motel worker horror stories. For fricks sake there are children and animals more continent than grown ass adults who cant keep things clean despite being perfectly capable to... Wasn't there some kind of long-running propaganda campaign in the 60s-80s or something in the states with the slogan "Work smart, not hard"? Ended up making millions for various schools all over the country and resulted in way less people doing more traditional stuff like learning an everyday trade. But I don't know too much about it. You organize things around your needs to reduce the time and effort you spend finding things or figuring things out. With that in mind, arrange things beginning with what you need more in a manner most befitting to your use of them. Lucyfish
I'm pretty used to being around loaded guns, but yeah if she had been pointing the gun a different direction then I could possibly not even be here right now. Is a bit of a scary thought. I wasn't in the room with her when it happened so I don't know exactly what happened. I imagine she might have pulled the slide back before pulling the magazine out, leaving one shot still in the chamber when the slide popped back. I'm pretty well-versed in gun safety myself, but I guess it isn't really something they push on people down here.

I'm basically making shit up here, but I'll say it's pretty much people looking down on the idea of working with their hands on something palpable and ordinary. I've known a lot of people like that, stuff like plumbing and electrical work is great money but it's vastly underrated and these people don't think of it as an option. Basically on my lunch break from work i was driving to get food, and where my place is there is a building that i had no idea what it was till i saw a bunch of poeple on the opposite side of the road with signs against gun voilence. So i figured out that one of the buildings was a gun range and it kind of made me interested in it since i want to at least try using a gun once. So those protesters kind of did the opposite of what they were trying to do at least for me.

Aluminum and steel are cheap. Aluminum is never surplus. No good for full auto because of the heat properties. Surplus is always steel or brass. Eastern block or chinese is almost always steel.
