I regards to what most 'acceptable' attire for people to wear in terms of furry conventions (considering I've never been to one) it seems rather commonplace for things like collars, leashes, other light bondage equipment (of a nature) to be there because the convention does revolve around animals, and usually your dog or whatever has that kind of stuff so it fits a schema. Other things however, like diapers, do not fits that schema and really shouldn't be exposed mainly because it's a matter of decency and respect for other people around you. That's not saying people can't wear them under their clothing, but don't intentially shit yourself around other people and at least have the decency to change yourself and dispose of your shit properly. The fact that people can't do that just grinds my gears

I think this is like the general rule of thumb

Perfectly OK

✔ Normal People Clothes
✔ Fursuits
✔ Fursuits wearing normal people clothes
✔ Collars I guess
✔ Diapers (if you're legitimately incontinent and have respect for other people)

IFFY
* Full-body harnesses
* CLEAN diapers under clothes (sorry bae it's still gross, but I guess no more nasty than a tampon)

Fuck No

✘ Fucksuits with exposed...anything
✘ Wearing underwear over your suit because why?
✘ Bondage Gear: If you want a fetish con, go to a fetish con
✘ Dirty or exposed diapers: See RF 2015 you sick fuck
✘ Diaper fur paraphernalia: Badges are sorta iffy but if they're clean whatever, other than that keep your gross pacifier in the hotel room
✘ Anything I missed that should just be common sense you disgusting sperg

luv ya @Astus bby <3

EDIT: Added some shit.

The diaper thing is really quite awful.

Clearly the intent of the diaper is to piss and shit into it.

You don't put on a condom unless you're going to have sex.

So naturally if you're wearing a diaper in public the reason is to poo and pee in front of other people.

Furry is the perfect place to "add on" whatever socially unacceptable stuff you're into because... Well nobody knows why.

well, no, i doubt that's the case for most people who do that

i mean, the aforementioned 'suiters who wear full body harnesses on their suits don't do it so they can be tied up to convention tables or strung along a doorway or something.

that said, people wearing fetish gear in public, regardless of what it is, is likely doing it for some flavour of kick, or to find people with similar interests - both rationale are rather unsavoury in a public environment

edit: i guess another, less insidious, possible reason for such behaviour is just a blatant lack of social awareness

You can walk into a restaurant wearing a diaper outside your clothes without the intent to poo or pee in it. The staff will throw you out. The customers will support them in that decision. The police will also believe the staff. So would a judge. So would everyone. Because that's the conclusion that reasonable people come to when they see that kind of thing. Everyone will assume you showed up to poo and pee in public and draw attention to yourself. (which by the way is probably the truth anyways)

I understand that you have highly specific fetishes but we don't necessarily need a Diaper Expert CLOGGING (ahahahehuthgh) up this forum. Even made in jest, it's kind of creepy and I don't like it, and I want diapers to not be here anymore. Thank you.

Ehh @Astus is pretty cool. Obviously I'm not in anyway a fan of diaperfurs (like look at the reason this thread exists lmao) and I will continue to give them shit so long as they insist on flaunting their shit. But at the end of the day we're all creepy faggots in one way or the other, (I mean one visit to the FA gallery of half of the people here will show you that) and looking past the diaper stuff he's a cool guy who I wouldn't mind meeting with at a con or something...assuming he's not like wearing a pacifier or something.

Also shoutout to @Ikrit for also being one of the few cool babyfurs out there, which is a sentence I honestly can't believe I'm writing.

Disregarding the fetish stuff, this bit from the staff blog actually raises some concern about the con, as well:

Quote

Another pebble in the avalanche was a conversation within the board about harassment. A few of us on the board noticed that RainFurrest’s harassment policy was out of date and needed to be upgraded. During the annual board retreat in 2014, we pushed for a review of the policy, to make changes that would make it more specific and enforceable. We didn’t expect the resistance we encountered. Multiple board members responded by saying that if we made the harassment policy any more concrete, we’d be tying the hands of any future chair of RainFurrest who wanted to work things out informally between the people involved, and we would enforce bans on socially awkward individuals who just didn’t know the rules. I heard from multiple people that making our harassment policy any more specific would cost us members, and they refused to consider that people who refused to show up because of our harassment policy were probably not the kinds of attendees we wanted.

You know you have your priorities straightened out, as a con, when you focus on keeping attendees at any cost above protecting people from fucking harassment.

Some people who do wear them do so as a from of security rather than using them; not all of them but it's good to not be biased to those who wear just for the comfort. But as a good rule of thumb when you meet someone wearing one you're right.

I don't know where you're getting highly specific fetishes from, it's just common curtosey not to shit yourself in front of other people whether you wear a diaper or not. I offer information so that people can see the perspecitve of one whether you like babyfurs (or other people like them) or not.

Thanks for the compliment but I'm not really cool at all; I'd say I'm more weird than cool. You have the right idea and put in pretty much the perfect words "I will continue to give them shit so long as they insist on flaunting their shit" Thank you for having a brain and using it. And I can pretty much guarentee that if I went to a con I'd be wearing normal clothes and probably have a babyfur badge.

The first priority of any con should be the safety of the con-goers and their staff. The fact that they didn't want to change policies shows that they didn't really care for that and is outrageous

Anyone who wears a diaper or sanitary pad should be as discreet, tasteful, and hygienic about it as they can be, period.

Nobody wants to see or smell a dirty diaper or sanitary napkin, or even one that is potentially dirty.

Knowingly or intentionally subjecting other people to your stench or filth is disrespectful and rude.

As we've noted here countless times before, brazenly subjecting other people to your sexual fetishes without their consent is also disrespectful and rude.

But, if you want to discreetly wear a diaper, a leather thong, a vibrating butt plug, your favorite My Little Pony boxers, or a pair of sexy lacy panties under your clothes, go for it--just don't flaunt it, or force other people to deal with or confront it against their will.

It's also telling that the phrase used to describe people violating this policy might be "socially awkward individuals who just didn’t know the rules."
You know, harassment.
They're just socially awkward, honest!

This is the kind of company this convention was okay with.

Also, regarding the diapers discussion:
I've said this before, and I will repeat myself again, and again, and again, always.

It would be like someone walking around, in their underwear, with a tampon hanging out for the world to see.

Both diapers and tampons are disposable sanitary waste catchers.
That is their purpose. They are not clothing or accessories.

If you guys start looking at EVERYTHING so far, a bunch of stuff doesn't 100% line up.

I smell a concerted effort to shut this convention down. Some of this stuff happens (the drugs, the fights, weird kin stuff on display, even at MFM) but the DAMAGE of stuffing things in plumbing and screwing with plumbing bolts and what-not is more of a deliberate act of sabotage. Can't speak to the staff members assaults, that sounds like stupid furries to me.

Not to say it isn't possible (or surprising) but people do all sorts of dumb shit at cons because they either a. don't realize their actions have real life consequences or b. don't think they'll get caught. anime cons are notorious for this

Or they're fucked up to shit on drugs.

Which, according to that journal, was a regular occurrence at that con.

most babyfurs I know are normal like me.  it's just the weird ones with the biggest mouth who get all the attention.  otherwise for most of us, it's just a fun little kink we generally keep to ourselves

That doesn't surprise me.

That also reminds me when I roomed on the same floor as 5 other pot smokers having a Ganja-fest. The whole floor smelled of skunk for the duration of the con to the point a couple of roomies were getting high off the smoke itself.

You implied you smoked pot yourself.

'I was in a room with 2 other artists'

'I went to the football math with several other fans'

'I roomed wit 5 other pot smokers'.

"I roomed on the same floor with five other pot smokers" denotes that I was on the same floor as 5 other pot smokers.

Shut your face and semantics and continue fapping to your furry porn.

  • 1 year later...

I would say let this be a learning experience to furries that shitting in their own bed is a bad thing (even though a lot of them apparently like that),
but they won't,
because furries.

I bet it will reappear in a years time under a different name.

It looks like the organisers already actually run a bunch of events, including another convention called furlandia, in Portland. (I'm not actually sure where Rainfurrest actually was located, somewhere in the Pacific Northwest presumably).

Babyfurs were incidental and easy scapegoats because hurr durr poopies.  RF quit because of the more serious less-than-literal crap they turned a blind eye to, crap that didn't really see sunlight until after the flooding thing.

Somewhere in Sea-Tac, I don't remember where and can't spare time to look it up right now.  I remember them rushing to find another venue (trying to outrun their reputation), and I want to say they tried to get one as far south as Portland.
