This is getting into spoiler territory so I'll use tags

Their whole deal is that they want to make a future for humanity through technology. The problem is that when they tried to help the surface years ago, it didn't go well so they got all emo and sealed themselves off and started using synths to pull the strings from behind the scenes like the illuminati or something, as well as doing some shady, immoral experiments with surface dwellers. I was hoping that, since your son is their leader and you take over once he dies if you go down that path, you could reform them and be like, "Listen bitches, no more of this shit. We're actually gunna help the surface now and make the world a better place for everyone" but you never do. You can kinda bring that up when you do the radio speech by changing it to talk about how the institute is there to help, but other than your son being like, "Oh, that's different but it works!", nothing happens. You can kinda headcannon it that your character does reform them since after you take over, nothing really happens but I'd rather there be actual stuff you can do. Like, maybe a really hard charisma check or something. I went with them in the end anyways since your other options are "crazy railroad people that mean well but go overboard", fascists, and the minutemen. Minutemen would've been my choice if they didn't fucking blow the institute up and create another irradiated hellhole, wtf?

So you might wanna lock your shit down and practice basic security before you continue on pissing people off. Not a smart thing to do when you're a wide-open target with ZERO armor.

As it stands right now, 3 of the 3 mods that were online at the time came to a consensus about the decision and that decision was made. We don't give these things out lightly. Very few bans have been given out here, especially recently while we've just been cruising along nicely (until today).
