GO VOTE, AMERICA

And then talk about your experiences, progress of the election, of thoughts on the candidates here! (Please be civil and keep down the spam)

My experience saw a mild line with about a 30 minute process time. I arrived about 10-15 minutes before the station opened, so about 45 minutes in all.

Any idea when we get the results? I'm only working for the morning tommorow, so I might stay up hyper late so I can watch the happening.

Depends on numerous factors, but polls in Ohio close at 7pm EST. The 24 hour news corps will be reporting as tallies come rolling in and a mathematically definitive call will probably be ready before Midnight EST (well before actual counting is done or even all the polls are closed.)

No matter what you believe about the way our country is run, you can't deny that at least having some hand in choosing our leader is a privelege w are lucky to have.

That's why this election...I won't be voting. Why? Because I believe it's the most American(TM) thing I can do! Think about it, what's more American than having all of the freedom and privelege  in the world, and then just not giving a shit and taking it all for granted? Nothing I say! I'm a true patriot, which why I'm gonna stay in, drink beer, eat a chili dog, and take a sloppy shit instead. God Bless America!

We already have them. Hillary will be instated as your next ruler. Have fun at the booths though. It's good to keep you guys feeling as if you're still in control.

I didn't vote. Too far to drive, and I'm in a blue state, so my vote is meaningless.

By the way, I'm amazed at how many people who vote have no idea about the candidates they're picking, or are even aware of all the Wikileaks stuff. I've talked to a bunch of Hillary supporters, and they think the issue is just that she was bad at securing her emails or that Russia hacked her account and that's it. We all know about all the terrible things Trump did, but barely anyone knows about Hillary. At this point, the Wikileaks emails revealed that:

  • Her campaign worked closely with CNN, Huffington Post, and others, to feed them questions to ask her and to promote her narrative while avoiding anything that would cause her issues (direct control of media). Like, actual direct correspondence with heads of media to agree on things.
  • She used her charities to accept bribes from international corporations and foreign governments (like Kuwait) in exchange for special access to and privileges from the State Department. As a result, despite being a public servant, she and Bill somehow ended up earning about  $200 million in just one and a half decades. (FBI claims they have been investigating this and building a case for a year now, and this may be a form of treason if she made any agreements or "treaties" with other countries without anyone elses approval).
  • She was involved with a children's charity that was tied to sex slavery, which tried to steal about 15 children from Haiti, claiming they were orphans, who turned out not to be, and even tried to help bail out the head of that charity before distancing herself from her.
  • Her husband Bill met regularly with and visited the "sex island" of a guy with previous underage rape charges, and Hillary accompanied bill to that island on six occasions. The island is accessible by private 747 with a sex room and is notorious for providing underage prostitutes while in flight, and on one occasion Bill traveled by it without any secret service escort. (The NYPD claimed they are building a case against Bill and Hillary in parallel with Anthony Weiner who's laptop they seized and found Hillary's emails on).

And all of these emails that show this happening are digitally signed proving that they came from her servers and were unaltered, with a cryptographic signature that can't be forged (except maybe by CIA). And that's the crazy person people are voting for...

Regardless, if anyone truly hates both presidential candidates then don't vote for either! There's still plenty of good reasons to go vote today.

Personally, I'm keeping an eye on a Public Park funding initiative I hope to see pass as well as schooll board elections and other legislative races.

Additionally, voting for a third party candidate is a good choice if you hate both of the major party candidates, acting as a way for you to express your dissatisfaction. A large segment of voters choosing third party candidates will be noticed by strategists of both parties as well as the media, and might encourage party leaders to try to broaden the appeal of their candidates in the future for fear of losing their dominant position.

Who's leading so far? Please tell me that Trump is winning.

No polling stations have closed yet, so there is no results in yet. The process is a patchwork of solutions all rolling in asynchronously (it makes it complicated and slow but quiet robust and resistant to nation-scale fraud) so it will be quite a number of hours still before even preliminary results start rolling in.

BELIEVE IN GREEN

Really though, as much as people don't like Trump or Hillary, surely that would spur more third party voters than normal. All she needs is 5%. She gets that, and the Green Party will receive federal funding to help support them in their campaign next election.

People should go vote since the house and senate are the movers and shakers. You can write in a president, like Deez Nuts just to compensate.

If you don't mind my asking, what specifically has she stated or done that you guys deem...less than satisfactory?

I know the most common thing that people often say is that she's anti-vaccine, but that was never actually true.

Also don't count out the ballot questions which are also quite important.

For example in Massachusetts the two biggest questions are about public school funding, and the complete LEGALIZATION OF WEED.

Virginia had two this election, which was to turn it unto a union option state and another one for spouses of Emergency response officers fallen in the line of duty.

That's very low energy, fam.

I voted for the make anime real again candidate, mostly because I made a deathbed promise to my mother to 'never vote for another lying Clinton bastard again' and also because if both choices are bad, I'm going to go with the one that makes me laugh, instead of the one that makes me sick to my stomach with terror.

TRIGGER WARNING: May contain dissenting opinions and I may go to hell for this.

Is this what you Americans are satisfied with? Let's give a biiiiiig Hooray for two party political system that allows you to choose which crook shall reign over your country in absence of any better, more popular and varied candidates. Both Clinton and Trump are crooks in their own way and if I had any voting rights in US, I'd vote for a third party just to spite these two candidates for their hegemony over votes. I would not vote for a person who claims he is piece of turd or a person who is trying to cover up the fact that she is a piece of turd.

In my country, I voted for Pirate party during parliamentary elections. It wasn't very popular and still isn't but it harbored the same values as I did (because I am young) and I am proud I voted for it. My vote counted towards the number of seats members of the pirate party received in the parliament. Pirate party is not the largest party in here but it has a few spots and I am glad about it.

PS: My political views may have changed since last election but I feel I did the right thing back then.

---

It's just silly how so varying political views are culminated as either Democrat or a Republican with no middle ground and that a politican needs to have support from their own party, which could harbor dozens of sub-parties, each with their own consensual view of how the country should be run. I guess disagreements within bi-parties are what's keeping US away from dictatorship, just literally one step ahead of it, but it's still a silly American "meld everything together as one" way of doing things. The melding already happened with your culture.

Add in overly complicated political "red or blue" districts, gerrymandering and complicated voting process that even an outsider eurotrash like me cannot fathom and its no wonder so little US citizens are unwilling to vote or will go with the flow of voting for two of the most popular candidates instead of doing a tiny bit of research and voting for candidates who hold their values the most. From what I've observed, so many of you US friends don't wholly or just barely agree with Clinton's or Trump's views

Add in legalized corruption, ahem, lobbying and your disrespect for any leftist parties and you've got a messy political system in need of some cleaning. Oh well, as an European I am content with spectating how things will unfold there. I'll just grab some popcorn and await the day when the yiff party takes over your White House.

tumblr_ljh0puClWT1qfkt17.gif

PS2: Take this with grain of salt. Including the popcorn

Well I mean, I voted less to spite the two-party system and more because I'm honestly terrified that Hillary wants us to get into a nukefight with Russia.

Good call but I would be more concerned with who the Russians want to have as their leader and that how long Putin has the strength and nerves to wave his dick to the rest of the world

NATO's mobilizing in eastern europe right now, if Hillary gets in there's gonna be a shitstorm, probably in Syria and Ukraine, and talking to all of my russian and military friends, there isn't really an option for Putin outside of the nuclear one.

I'd bet the allegations of election fraud will fly in to Fox News before the east coast polls even close, except I don't have a TV that can pick it up.  This is going to be more loldramatic than the 2000 election.

I spent the last few weeks studying my ballot, and I voted this morning.

Athough, honestly, what would really help us get away from having to choose between dogshit, catshit, birdshit, and batshit is just about any voting system other than pick-only-one aka first-past-the-post.

Also, if Hillary wins, the Republicans have vowed to impeach her at their earliest opportunity, and I honestly believe they'll use any excuse they can, no matter how flimsy it is.
