I like how everyone started assuming I was some sort of pretentious emo 13 year-old who hates pop music and popular people and only listens to obscure, classic, and alternative music, while cutting myself I'm sure. While I was just sitting here and listening happily to a modern famous pop artist earlier today. Hmm....

i actually do agree with this primarily in the sense that the pop market is literally designed to do this. it's not really a new concept and for the most part artists were doing the relative equivalent ever since widespread media became a thing; find rising talent with a good face, oversell, mass market.

forgot i wanted to mention; that's fair, mostly because i keep seeing a disturbing amount of people who would probably be inside all day running around screaming about spearows.

I've always wonder whether, if we went back to the 50s and 60s, were there people sneering down on Elvis or the Beetles as popular music (since they pretty much WERE the pop music of their day) as not being as good as old school music (blues, jazz, classical), much in the same way as people sneer down at pop music today.

And I can't remember what I was going to say about that second sentence... i'll have to go back and then edit this.
Edit: Ah yes, Pokemon GO. You don't realize how true my last comment about it was. I tend to get into things like a year after everyone else has gotten into it and then moved on to the next thing. Often longer than a year. Me: "Yea I just totally started Undertale this is awesome..." Everyone else: "Um we're now playing GO where have you been?"

Good to see some stuff I know in there. Like Opeth and Ghost Reveries.

admittedly there is an inherent reactionary response to commentary on music eras that are too vague. i disagreed with you because of autotune, but i always find the jump to the next level of "WOW WHAT AN EDGY MIDDLE SCHOOLER" pedantic

yes! completely. There is almost always a negative stigma of new music in every single genre. The Beatles were one of those things, the entire genre of jazz, modern classical, all of it was initially strongly disliked

i can understand that! i used to do that and honestly it was nice because i wasn't damaged by social perceptions when determining whether i liked it or not

So, checking out the sidebar news on FB. Darwin must be laughing his ass off. A game in which evolution is a core mechanic is causing semi-natural selection among humans. Walking off cliffs, falling in lakes, getting hit by cars, getting stabbed...

Pokemon Go truly shows our species at its finest.

Evolution in name only.

YoGiOh sucks compared to the shitstorm of stack-manipulation that is M:TG. Unless you know Forth/Reverse Polish Notation, you really don't stand much of a chance.

Yugioh is busted as fuck.

Look up the card Raigeki and tell me if that's fair.

Sittin' in a room with 13 Somalians,  one Asian dude covered tattoos, and a white balding man. I have never felt so confused.

How'd you get in such a situation?

A female friend in my group of friends (Who I've known since I was very young) has been spreading the word that she thinks I have a thing for her. And she's wrong.

So now she's avoiding me, and despite me telling her I don't have a thing for her, she doesn't believe it and continues to spread this shit behind my back

Is this a common thing? Is it rare for a guy to have a female friend who doesn't think it's about shagging?

Shit's confusing. I don't want my group of friends to be divided before we all go to university.

Talking to your group of friends, "Hahah, man, you know whats so funny? I can't talk to a girl I respect without thinking she's got a crush on me. Shits crazy, right? Larry, ever had that happen to you?"

Shits funny. Treat it as such. If you let that affect you it will. Turn the situation on its head. It goes from you being an oppurtunistic creep to a well meaning dude with a girl who's overreacting.

It's early days. I found out about this whole thing today, and I only know about the avoidance thing because my friends ratted on her for me.

Methinks the damage has been done, since I've already insisted to her that nothing is going on. Now she might be feeling awkward and wanting to avoid me for that reason instead. Making a joke about it would just be a mean way to rub it in.

No, its taking control of the situation. Mastering handling the stuff around you. The 18-17yo girl made an ass of herself and is about to get off without reprecussion. You take control by showing her that her transgressions are not without punishment, and that "punishment"is being a little uncomfortable when your friends think you're overreacting.

I dunno, I don't think "punishment" will mend a group of friends.

Regardless, I can't really do the thing because only 2 of my friends know about it and I've spoken to each of them privately anyway.

Plus I'm limited to internet chat because we're not going to all physically be in the same place at once if she has anything to say about it

Maybe it'll blow over

Correct the rumour. What she is doing isn't fair. The sad thing is a lot of people will believe the rumour. I know what it is like to have someone spread untrue rumours and it sucks. You should have some control over your own reputation. After all these little things can pile up and become a big thing down the road.

Tired and hungry, a bit sore, 104 dirty rooms at the hotel, stuff on my mind, and I'm missing a friend's weekly artstream again.

Ah well. At least my days off start tomorrow. :\

Can I stay at the hotel for free?

See, this is good advice. I straight up told her I have no feelings for her and this should stop for the sake of togetherness in the group. She's since said hi to me in a group chat, so I think we've reached equilibrium.

Good job

Your card only gets one play. This one stays on the board and effectively wipes EVERYTHING excepting your mana sources, for one mana per turn.

It's an Artifact card; without intervention, it will destroy itself as well when you tap it.

My crush liked a post on Facebook today which, long story short, was about empowering autistics. It makes me feel somewhat better to know he could possibly like what I am, even if I can't face being what I am. He knows, and he still says he wants to do me, so I'm not gonna complain or anything.

I don't know why I'm posting about THIS when I'm stranded in a country I quite frankly hate, in the middle of an almost 2 day flight delay. Surely that's more interesting. At least I have Internet. Unfortunately all I have on my tablet is Wish and eBay, so I'm spending money.

So apparently some people think it 's alright to take the orchids and hurt the fruit trees in a family graveyard. During a funeral.

Like actually during the funeral?

I mean right in the middle of it?

I mean I know people who plant cacti around the pretty flowers already, but having them right at the funeral is really unfitting.

Why doesn't anyone intervene.

Didn't really notice while it happened I guess. I don't know why they didn't choose to do that when there's no funeral...
