When did people start listening to video game soundtracks as if it's regular music?? o_O

I usually listen to video game soundtrack remixes...

And probably around the time production values for games allowed for professional sound things.

Also Frank Klepacki <3

Some of it's certainly not bad. I mean, I own the Undertale and Ocarina of Time soundtracks, myself.

But I've noticed a lot of people now...it's basically all they listen to

That's not baaaad..... But it's really odd and alienating to me

A few weeks ago, I was listening to the song Brighton Rock in the car, and when Freddie started singing in his really high pitched voice, the speakers literally couldn't pick it up. Like, for some reason, the guitar and drums could still be heard fine, but it was as if someone had removed Freddie's vocals from the track. I wonder why that is.

The warning on an ad for some new antidepressant:  'Call you Dr. immediately if you have any of the following symptoms: one of them was coma. How do you call anyone, in a coma?

Some other ad listed the side effects of another medication as including 'death'. Nice to know it's just a side effect, I suppose.

Biology is a quirky thing. Many medications' common use in treatments begin as a side effect discovered while trying to treat something else. One of the most famous cases being Viagra, which began life being used to treat high blood pressure in the vasculature around the heart.

The sheer complexity and number of interacting systems means that even the small variability in people can make for some very different reactions to medication, sometimes kicking off a sequence of processes that can have catastrophic outcomes especially when combined with other conditions. You can't account for it all or fully describe all the reasons something may happen, let alone discover them all. When they list death, it really is a side effect in that sense. As for coma, of course you call after your experience the coma :P

Side effects lists can look pretty nutty, just don't let them dissuade you from actually taking your meds.

Now for something that I don't understand! Franchise-branded cookbooks:

Well, clearly when you see such tasty treats as these in game, you're going to wish to make them yourself:

World-of-Warcraft-Pilgrim%E2%80%99s-Boun

and for dieters, these recipes can help you avoid those fatteningly high polygon counts in more traditional fare...

Really it's just one more area that they can profit from merchandising, just slap referential or pun based names on a few simple recipes and you'll make thousands of dollars from the branding. Hell, even Angry Birds appears to have a cookbook, though i am pretty sure that there is absolutely no food in that "game"...

Ok, so maaaaybe I do get it and just secretly wish it was non-sensical and impossible to understand why people would want to do that :3

I don't understand why I do THAT, though. But I suspect it has something to do with projecting values of dignity onto companies.

Yeah, pretty much any company is willing to drag their brand/franchise in the dirt if it means making a few bucks, that's just capitalism...

I think that when you're a fan of a franchise or brand (don't know if you're a fan of WoW, but I'm speaking more in general) you want it to maintain a certain level of quality and even dignity with its content and the products produced for it, while the company only sees it as something that can create additional profit if slapped on a product or licensed out.

people who insist that enjoying something violent or otherwise objectionable in art, roleplay, etc is the same thing as approving of it irl.  you say that liking or accepting this thing in fantasy either means liking/accepting it in reality or eventually being conditioned to do so, but all that really says is that you're unable or unwilling to distinguish fantasy from reality.  you refuse to differentiate between a person's fantasies, which you've taken out of context, and that person's actual moral convictions and ideals.  then you claim it's the other person who can't/won't differentiate?  if everyone followed the same mindset of "thought = action, fantasy = reality", which is the very mindset you're promoting, then we'd all be fucked.

distinguishing fantasy from reality is important, yo.  i don't think people ought be encouraged not to do so, and the fact that so many out there feel otherwise baffles me.

When you streaming yourself drawing super big otters and some guys in your chat, wielding all kinds of science and medical degrees, start arguing over the technicalities of how hyper dongs could potentially work. loooool

But hey they were nice and liked my otters :D

Porn. Or specifically porn stashes. I don't get it. All you have to do is yell "penis!" then suddenly pr0nz everywhere, tagged and sorted by sex, orientation, and fetish. Then sometimes you'll have people going on comparing the size of their hordes. Where does it come from? Can you not remember it all? Are you supposed to put all of the porns in a box under your bed? There's just so much.....

In the digital case, its a matter of 'it might not exist because furries and other artists will delete things and sometimes servers crash', on the other hand its a case of 'sometimes the internet is too expensive'.

Also sometimes the same thing is boring and you don't want to have a lewd image permanently burned into your brain, when you can have something else permanently burned in there, like the works of Mark Twain.

On Topic: I don't understand how someone can stand in line for twelve minutes staring at menus and our display cases, and then walk up to me with a slack jawed expression going 'I want ham' and then looking at me like I sprouted six heads and a tentacle when I ask 'which one would you like.'

why the flying fuck my roommate is burning paper

depends on what kind of paper it is and how they're doing it. My family routinely burns all "sensitive" information like receipts, insurance, bank statements, etc. -- anything that may be of use to identity thieves really.

It was a blank piece of printing paper

Pyromania is part of the Macdonald Triad. You're gonna wake up one morning and find your roommate wearing your face. gl;hf

Pretty kinky, tbh. If someone did that to me I'd probably just be happy to have the attention. None of my roommates try to wear my face...

He has a shitty homemade bong that used MY electrical tape without my permission.

Good. You can pee in that. If he he gets mad, offer him some pot and sit with him while he smokes it. Once he gets buzzed, tell him it has k2 in it.

Then watch and laugh while he freaks out for the next few hours.

Well, you can still pee in his bong.

I know it sucks living with roommates. You must put your foot down and mark your territory.  You MUST pee in his bong. It is the only way...

Is... is electrical tape a valuable resource or something, to be guarded?

I've always viewed tape and shit like that as a "house" thing.
Nobody owns it. You just use it as needed.
Like hand soap or toilet paper.

It is...

In colorguard/winterguard. Because electrical tape is used for literally everything. Mostly for protection and design. For the most part, it's used to tape equipment for protection from damage.

Duct tape wouldn't work because it'd fuck up the weight of the equipment, but electrical and rubber tape work justtt right.

Stunning revelation on my part but...

I learned...I dont even like sex that much.

Yes, its great and all. Yes it feels good. Yes it feels amazing...

But...

In the end I get so much more out of my emotional attachment to people. Its like the sex is some secondary source of intimacy...

Wow, go figure right???

This should be basic news to me. Before I even cared for sex I was a younger person filled with loneliness and wanted closeness of some kind of kinship...the sex was always some gradual buildup in my mind, but it always stemmed from the same place.

Funny how when doing it Ive ended up realizing I love the person more than the act itself. What an odd revelation...

No wonder Ive 'not liked' sex despite having a hyperactive sex drive.

I bought a bag of Sun Chips last week actually, they're one of my favorite chips. Good crunch and they're whole grain so you can pretend like you're eating healthy!

Haven't had the "original" ones, but the cheddar ones are dope. They're actually probably my favorite chips.
