"Tyson"

“Poets say science takes away from the beauty of the stars - mere globs of gas atoms. I too can see the stars on a desert night, and feel them. But do I see less or more? The vastness of the heavens stretches my imagination - stuck on this carousel my little eye can catch one - million - year - old light. A vast pattern - of which I am a part... What is the pattern, or the meaning, or the why? It does not do harm to the mystery to know a little about it. For far more marvelous is the truth than any artists of the past imagined it. Why do the poets of the present not speak of it? What men are poets who can speak of Jupiter if he were a man, but if he is an immense spinning sphere of methane and ammonia must be silent?” - Richard Feynman

Those two things, along with the famous "pale blue dot," are foundations of who I am.

Today we switched from AT&T to Time Warner, and the internet is significantly faster. Hopefully it will also be more reliable.

It really should be as long as you get rid of whatever crap modem or router they gave you or made you buy.

Really chill video games I can play and get lost in thought in.

Or really peaceful ones like Space Engineers. Sitting in Space alone, even in a video game, can be surprisingly relaxing and just wonderful.

Have you ever played Journey?

Best 15 dollars I've ever spent on a video game.

Happy Valley.

It's a cop drama about this 47yo gran working and bumping into some old wounds that never quite healed, and as time progresses, it's like salt thrown in. Very gripping, very well written and everyone in the show has depth to their character, but what really sold the show to me was the protagonist. THIS is how you do female leads right. None of that Superhuman BS Hollywood favours. Straight up no-bullshit person here that's still humane. Loved it! It's a pretty dark show though and humour was few and far between. Still, really good and well made.

Do recommend it a watch if you can, first season's on netflix and I watched it all in one go just now. First scene for ya.

Pretty cool, unfortunately the download button is grayed out for me. :(

Oh, well that's unfortunate.  I don't know what the issue is.

On-topic.  I just noticed how there's quite a few people on here with Fox avatars, all from the same Fox animation, and all with the same expression.

I found season one of Rick and Morty on DVD at the FYE by grandma's house. Uncensored versions of shows are the best. Thank you, based Roiland.

Also, FYE needs to come back to Mentor. There was one in Great Lakes Mall long ago right next to the Disney Store, but both places abandoned ship during the Great Recession. A return would totally be rad. How many other stores have a section dedicated to heavy metal instead of just mixing it with the rock and pop?

The Company put in a fresh set of scented urinal pads!

I prefer the old lavender-scented ones to these new orange-scented ones, but the old ones had long since lost their smell, so it's a welcome change.

I like that owl city (Adam Young) has such a unique voice that when I listen to a song Ive never heard before I can pick out that its him

...and I rarely listen to pop music but anything sung by him on the radio immediately grabs my attention. (he's more electronica anyways)

Just realized he released a new album because I heard the song "Verge" and I really like the song "unbelievable

I feel super happy and energized for the first time in a long time! No idea why!

I mean, I ran yesterday with Val for the first time in.... well over a year, so maaaaaybe exercise does improve my wellness and energy.

I ordered a super sexy mistress outfit piece by piece, from the pvc looking mini dress, to the faux leather leggins, to the fishnet arms and I am super happy to be growing as a mistress.

I mean heck, I'm already smart and talented and sexy and good at hypnotising others so only imagine me in five years!

Rock on the Range is a very liberating experience. No worries, no obligations, no responsibilities, just three days of music. Headbanging, horn raising, moshing pit slamming, crowd surfing antics galore, along with random beer cans flying through the air. Large video screens and amplified rock make the bands enjoyable for all. Bands from all over the world, ranging all over the rock and metal spectrum. Excellent food options, including Island Noodles and Schmidt's Sausage Haus. Free beef jerky samples. Three stages, alternating to provide volume and (mostly) quality music.

Shit gets rank, though. Trash everywhere, and the porta johns fill up when 30000 people are using them over the course of 3 days.

Also, if you like the smell of sweat, cigarettes, and cheap weed, you are in luck. It's funny to watch people get stoned and act stupid, like some random chick who wanted to use the men's room for some unclear reason.

AND THE CROWD SURGES DURING ROB ZOMBIE. PURE MADNESS.

So, the UK University League Tables for 2017 were just released

And it turns out that the university I'm headed towards magically jumped to #4 in the country

I think it is absolutely wonderful when ignorance in literature and history result in people with strongly-held political views nearly worshiping people that would have fought against some of their proposals.

Two of my favorite examples are

  • When Americans on the far-right throw around Orwell (Blair) quotes to attack Obama's 'socialism.' One has to wonder if they know he aligned himself with the Partido Obrero de Unificación Marxista and the CNT-FAI during the Spanish Civil War and that his quotes were in defense of the socialism of the revolutions in Catalonia.
  • When Americans on the far-left throw around Gandhi quotes to attack the wealthy. I am never quite sure if they recall that Gandhi felt that the caste system was an entirely egalitarian replacement for capitalism.

It just shows that people and issues are a little more complicated than some repeatable phrase they may have spouted out.
