Those who know/knew me personally know what I’m like. It feels like I wasn’t that person when I had the hammer, at least back then. I’ve done a lot of self reflection after the years I had spent here and on its predecessor (FAF). I like to think I am a better person now after having taken a break from all this. Those that follow me on twitter can see that I’m much more laid back now than I was.

You are right in that you changed dramatically. You were legitimately fun to be with before you became a mod.

If you say you want to be a better poster, I will believe you wholeheartedly. I know I wasn't here when you left, but welcome back.

I think that because I now had the power to get rid of or punish people that reminded me of those dickheads in school…. Yeah you know where this is going.

Quick nitpick: This is literally the dictionary definition of power tripping.

It's good to have self-reflection, and use it to improve yourself. Just don't do it while sugarcoating some of the larger issues at play, because it leaves room for repetition.

In any case, it's fortunate that you've come to terms with a lot of these things.

Okay, so normally, as far as blood, violence, and gore go in media, I'm fine. I haven't freaked out the few times I've witnessed a lot of blood in one place (or rather out of a place) in real life either.

But a game I got in the Humble Bundle this week, Tharsis, while on the surface a RNG-reliant strategy game about Mars-bound astronauts trying to survive the journey when their equipment goes awry, actually has a very disturbing theme in it I'm extremely uncomfortable with.

Cannibalism. I'm putting the rest of my post in spoiler tags in case someone else wants to play the game and deliberate on it themselves, or reading about it would bother you. I wouldn't blame you.

It's not particularly graphic at all-- bloody chunks of meat symbolize your crew members who died in a meteorite collision shortly before the events of the game. Yet due to what I suppose is a combination of the atmosphere, the concept itself and objective pros and cons to the decision I hesitated for several minutes contemplating whether I wanted to cross that line, even in a video game. What's worse, if you do give in to the desperate act, it changes several elements of the UI to drive home what you just did. The dice drip blood, the corners of the screen go red and your crew member's face that had partaken of the meat is visibly perturbed.

Oh, and if you don't have any normal food or meat... it gives you the option to kill a crew member to feed the others. The captain says in a deadpan voice, "Seems we're out of food... but we can make more." I almost won, got to the week before arrival, but I didn't kill my weakest member to save the others and it ended up costing me the game =\  I know it's just a game, but I'm still legitimately disturbed by what I just played. Being trapped in a malfunctioning spaceship for weeks upon weeks with people that might end up eating you out of desperation would be scarier than any movie villain.

At the same time, isn't it really a good thing to not be desensitized to something like that?

Accidentally said "Eeeeeeerect" without meaning to at my friends house at her birthday party. Her parents are very, very sheltering and touchy.

Don't think they heard me but all my other friends just stared at me.

I was talking to "Eric" and meant he got "rekt".

"EEEEEREKT"

Ehhh, ehh I don't know. Socially, being desensitized to it would be a good thing in the eyes of society.

Common sense wise, if you WERE trapped in that situation that you'd need to eat someone, the psychological damage would likely be reduced if you were desensitized to it, which would help later on.

Alright, a few confessions en rafale:

Even though I'm almost 23, I still really, really like Avenged Sevenfold's music.

I never dare approach people in a more private manner because I feel like a rude dork whenever I try to.

I inserted a french expression in this post just to sound fancy.

If my skills in video games were a webpage, the server would return a 404 not found.

If age limits existed for bands, I am too old for Bring Me the Horizon but too young for Slayer. There are no such thing though. If you like a band, you like a band.

I feel like an asshole in real life because it takes a great deal of effort to talk to 95% of people and I can't take people's identities seriously.

I think it's laughably stupid every time I piece together how others perceive themselves and how they form their identities. I find even the most otherwise respectable people's identities to be pathetic and just outright dumb to the point that I actually dehumanize them and it kinda scares me.

I'm a selfish, hateful jerkass who's rapidly becoming less empathic towards others and increasingly vindictive. Maybe I'm just growing up and becoming a man.

I appreciate your honesty and self awareness, its probably hard to take anyone you cant understand very well seriously, hopefully you learn to be respectful to others, at the least, even if their ways are not something you can comprehend

OT:

I am absolutely against backtalking (as stated in another thread) but sometimes there are people who have hurt me or make me uncomfortable, and I want to talk about it to someone at least to gain another perspective or insight, but even if they somehow were considered a bad person to me I hate painting them in a bad light to others, I tend to keep my opinions of people to myself and just ignore them...and when you want to talk about it but the other person can read it it's even more intimidating.

...and on a lighter note I have a terrible confession to make,

In middle school I read the twilight books

...its...I feel very ashamed.

Keeping things bottled up is never a good idea though, so in certain situations I think discussing issues (even if it's regarding another) with someone you trust is healthy - especially if it's causing you stress or grief. I can understand this type of mentality however, it leaves a sick taste in your mouth when speaking about anyone poorly.. which is why you've the right idea in only wanting to gain a fresh perspective and genuinely want help with the problem.

You seem like a swell person Wolf, and I've a feeling you assist lots of people out when they need it. So something to keep in mind (if you view this the same way I do) is ensuring you're mentally healthy, allowing you to also extend out and help others too if you want to see it in that light.

I constantly have to remind myself reading Twilight was a learning experience, yes... very educational. :3

^^ While I do find it hard to open up about problems, especially since I feel self conscious about how long winded and unimportant my life sagas are, I do try to find solace in throwing it all out there once in awhile, sometimes Im luvky and people reciprocate

My avatar is cropped porn.

And I bought another wig today. I have no self control when I see a nice wig.

Skipping lunch is becoming a regular thing for me now, and I'm pretty happy about that change. Easier than skipping dinner because Mum is at work over the lunch period and Dad doesn't notice anyway.

Yay for cropped porn avatars!

It's good to splurge sometimes, get all the wigs!

I skip breakfast almost every day.

I have a horrible habit of being extremely cavalier about my drug use in mixed company because a part of me enjoys the bewildered and uncomfortable reactions I get from sober and/or straightedge people. But then another part of me feels bad knowing that they're probably looking down their noses and silently condemning me for being a junkie. It's pretty stupid.

I sucked a dudes dick for the first time on friday. It was more fun than I imagined it would be.

It is a hard thing to do.

That you treat your opinions like that is... awfully gentle. And that's a good thing, though I can't think of another person like that.

Making judgements is something you do internally, so you can discuss those things as your perspectives only while leaving any judgement on the person ambiguous. I guess it takes a little reflection. That's what I was told, anyway.

But if you're worried the person will read your thoughts, maybe it's something to talk about directly? Or at least to discuss privately with a trusted friend?

A petty confession, but today I have spent a lot of time warding off anger, which is not something I need to do very often. Basically, I feel wrong. And I did not expect such a thing from muttface.

I will never understand being "half" gay.
You're either gay or you're not gay.
You're either straight or you're not straight.
You can be both.
You can be neither.
There is no half.

I lost my last job due to smoking a giant blunt with my friend one Saturday morning before being called into work that afternoon.

I went to work stoned and was let go after two hours of staring at my co-workers tattoo and failing to control my laughter.

Bisexuals are a myth perpetuated by the Reptilians. I'm glad to see another enlightened individual here.

On the topic of pot, I've always been really anti-recreational pot use for a long time. It has to do with an ex and his distancing himself from me and general being a jackass but that's all over with now. But I read recently that some people see it as like an Asperger's cure. They develop the abilities they lack while high, and use them while sober to better themselves. So I have made plans to meet with a friend and he's gonna bring his friend and we're gonna see if that's true for me.

I'm not on the spectrum, but I can say that pot has really improved my ability to socialize with others. It's also improved my overall attitude and made me less anxious, even when haven't smoked in several days. It also improved my confidence. I think these positive effects might be permanent. It's definitely been an overwhelmingly positive influence on me, all jokes aside. The only reason I got fired was because I never expected to be called in on a Saturday for work.

Good luck! I hope it helps you as much as it did me.

Cool! Have fun

Only thing I'd be wary of is dont go in expecting it to cure you, that'll only set you up for dissappointment, but if it gives you the mindset and the means to loosen up your mind and see better it sounds like a helpful tool to do just that.Like anything you still probably need to put in some effort for that. If all else fails, at least you had a feelgood time

ECO Virtual's Atmospheres 1 is often cited as the album that established the VHSwave genre, within the greater blanket of vapourwave. Another really rad album from this genre is Palm Haze by Miami Vice

Vapourwave is not so much a genre as a metagenre, a word used more to describe a collection of different sounds with similar philosophical origins. in the same way that "rock" encompasses sounds as diverse as classic rock, hard rock, alternative, shoe gaze, grunge, poprock

Within the blanket you'll find such genres as Vapour-Noise / Eco Jams (Eco Jams Vol. 1 by Chuck Persons / Oneohtrix Point Never, regarded as the seminal work of the entire vapourwave genre), Mallsoft (Hologram Plaza by Disconscious), Future Funk / Nu Disco (Hit Vibes by Saint Pepsi) and of course Classic Vapourwave (FLORAL SHOPPE by Macintosh Plus, which took heavy inspiration from Eco Jams to make what's regarded as the first true Vapourwave album, or at least what launched it into popularity)

I really recommend watching this video, as it explains the origins and different sounds within the vapourwave meta genre pretty well :3

(also if I can post a more personal link, my absolute most favourite is the Vapour-Chill album Birth of a New Day by 2814)
