I am browsing the internet the best way possible right now.

One of these days when I have more money than sense I'm gonna get a landline set up so I can dial in on my Compaq Portable One and shitpost like it's 1989.

Went and saw Duran Duran at the fair tonight. It was fucking rad <;

Had cannons shooting confetti, giant beach balls, go-go dancers with ridiculously large afros, and they did a Major Tom tribute to David Bowie.

I love that cheesy 80's pop shit. And for an old band they can still sing really well. Was so much fun.

Can I get an opinion?

Im thinking about maybe joining the RAF to become a pilot. I really don't know about this thought but if I go through with it I'll be in service for a minimum of 12 years, I have all the qualifications except for me fitness test which I am excercising so I can get around to that hopefully quickly.

what do you guys think? I'm very on the fence about it

Coming from a person who applied to FAF (Finnish Air Force), I can say the screening is quite thorough and at times hard as fuck. They have psychophysiological tests, aptitude tests and the ever so wondeful vigilance test. I found that with my half decent fitness I passed the requirements alright, and the psych evaluations as well as intelligence tests went no probs. Fuck my blood pressure though, genes told me I couldn't supply enough blood to my brains in a hi-G turn so that was the end for me, practically one step from finish line. You need to be devoted to the matter if you want to pull through.

If you want to fly the best things there is, and if you want to soar the skies faster than sound on the expense of the country, I'd say go for it. It's a living, and a damn good one if you've got what it takes.

If you want to get a glimpse of what aviation, military aviation is, I'd recommend downloading DCS: World with a good module. It'll show you how different flying is from mainstream media and if you still want to fly, APPLY LIKE NO TOMORROW!

A meeting. A meeting on the same task I spent all that time on before my vacation.

New changes, defects from miscommunications, problems with stuff the guy who left the project didn't do. Problems that I explicitly provided work arounds for in the event they occur, completely ignored.

It's like I never left for vacation.

right thanks for the feedback. I expected that flying would require a lot but i didn't think my blood would of been an issue. Thinking about it i might not get let in since I'm short sighted, but if they allow contacts i guess it would be ok...i hope.I also have an extremely mild case of aspergers syndrome which i heard the RAF may not accept, i'll need to show them that I'm more than capable of handling these situations properly like anyone else would. I had a look at dcs and its pretty interesting though i Dont think i have the equipment and space to play that game properly.

While I'm on my music course I'm going to start training for the year to see if i can go through the processing, if not i'll just return to do music and continue my career as s composer.

Have you ever had a half conscious dream? Like, you're half asleep, and you're kinda dreaming at the same time?

Something like that. I was having really bad anxiety issues earlier this year that were giving me very vivid nightmares. There'd be times where I'd wake up during them, open my eyes, and for a very brief fraction of a second still be seeing them. :c

Do you recall any nightmares in particular?

A lot of my scarier ones that I can remember aren't things I can quite put into words with sounding convoluted and stupid. They're really grossly surreal and I hate it. Usually bad dreams I have that are easy to explain aren't really that bad and typically involve violent storms; usually tornadoes varying from large F3-F5's.

I had a dream last night that there was a bomb explosion in the public bathroom I stopped at.
And while I didn't get hit, my purse, phone, and wallet got stolen.
And I was on a fucking trip, in the middle of nowhere.

That was fun.

And you're spreading it.

I'm immune because I already have a song stuck in my head.

Last night about 4:30am I was watching the ISS pass over North America. It was quite bright this night. But I almost immediately noticed a very faint object following the ISS along the same path, but a bit slower (the other object seemed to be lagging).

I can't seem to find a satellite map online that can go back in time to see what might have had the same orbit as the ISS, and NASA says nothing is getting ready to dock, or leaving the space station, so that leaves me only one conclusion...

It's actually an alien space craft that's tracking the space station and studying it! We are not alone! /x-files theme song

(speaking of which, the ISS is about to pass over North America in about 10 min (10:50 est), it's over the pacific now)

In Soviet Russia, space studies you.

Yesterday: "This is so important, we're going to introduce it outside the normal build cycle, asap." Me:"I'll make it my highest priority!"

This morning: "Hey, could you try to take care of these two other tasks before you work on that big important one?"

One is a problem with a report I've never seen before, the other requires a process that involves 4 other people. What even is management.

 At least I have donuts.

So hard to find scary games. And I wanna slap people who recommend Silent Hill and stuff like Fatal Frame. Give me a break...

Amnesia and Outlast were fun, but I never really felt scared. :c

I could recommend Alien: Isolation, I suppose. It's longer and slower-paced than Amnesia/Outlast, and its very much a stealth game where you actually have to use items and stuff to help you get ahead/not get rekt but you might find that the scare factor starts to go away in time, just like seemingly every horror game.

Not even the early silent hills?

I never found them anymore scary than a teen slasher film honestly.

I'd play that. Aliens, the brand and aliens in general haven't scared me since I was a kid, but survival horror and stealth work brilliantly in tandem.

I honestly need something surreal where the environment plays swift tricks on you and creepy inanimate things spring to life.

I don't know. Been playing Alien Isolation for exactly 77 minutes but I just can't get around to playing it further. It's just so boring : /. I suppose it simply ain't my type of game. Maybe I'm gonna pick it back up after a good while

Have you tried Layers of Fear? I haven't played the whole thing, but from what I played it seemed like a very good psychological horror game with a constantly shifting and increasingly surreal environment.

I would also recommend Soma if you liked Amnesia, its made by the same group and though it is more philosophical it is similar in its style of horror.

That's the game I was thinking about played. I couldn't remember the name but was about to describe it. I remember seeing a scene where he was in a room full of books and he walked up to a creepy painting, turned around, and for a split second the books had silently formed into humanoids that were creeping up on him from behind.

Yep, I remember that part... it was pretty freaky just through the shear unexpectedness and strangeness of the situation. A lot of things change when you are turned around, from things like that to the room changing composition entirely, but it is not very easy to predict when these things will happen, and like the book thing, they often defy anything that you expect to encounter.

Bit of 3D industry news I was reading. Maya 2017 was released, the first version for subscribers only and the first time you'd have to ask Autodesk to let you stick to older version, rather than just not upgrade.

What did they change? The stripped out integrated support for the renderer I use, Mental Ray (it would now require a separate, paid license from nVidia) and replaced it with another company's product, the Arnold render. Nevermind that I would've had to create whole new networks to color my stuff, the Arnold integrated in its place only supports still images, not batches. You would have to buy a separate paid license from the other company to render animations!

Another subscription paid license, no matter which renderer you choose, in addition to being now forced to pay Autodesk on subscription just for the 'privilege' of continuing to using their product and receive further forced changes like this. I am SO glad I didn't go for their subscription "service".

This sounds like yet another reason why no one actually pays for this sort of software unless they can charge to a corporate/government account.
