We all know that pornography is the bane of modern society, corrupting the minds of innocent people with the idea that fornication should be in any way creative or pleasurable.

But now, some old wrinkled fucks who haven't so much as fondled their own droopy bits in the shower since the beatle's first album hit the charts have finally stepped up to the plate. Their goal? Return porn to the wholesome, godly, dignified medium it once was! Never again will the denizens of Great Britain have to worry about their daily pornographic  consumption being marred by such horrid and unnatural  imagery as female ejaculation, menstrual blood, penetration involving more than four fingers or potentially violent objects, and other such filth.

What a godsend! Truly the most relevant and pressing issue that parliment should be focus its resources on! You brits are so lucky to have such noble and caring individuals censoring your disgusting smut. Let's make the UK gr8 again~

The sad thing is that if strict control of information and internet in general is succesfully enforced today, the future generations will take it for granted, submitting themselves to mass surveilance, propaganda and being allowed to project their own thoughts and products freely to others. It is a worrying trend.

Censorship of pornography in the UK has been a thing for a while iirc. I didn't realise they were moving forward with it though

I don't know whether this will mean we will be unable to access furry websites in future. What about places like twitter where people voluntarily post home made pornography?

I am frustrated about this.

I read it briefly but either couldn't find the list of porn things it is banning or skimmed over the list by accident.

Mentioned the wireless telegraphy act 2006 a lot though so no more transmitting BDSM or furry erotica over morse code it seems.

the list of banned activities is as follows:

spanking

Caning

'Aggressive' whipping (why is 'non aggressive' whipping not banned,  while spanking *is* banned?)

Penetration by any object "associated with violence" (does this include the penis?)

Physical or verbal abuse (regardless of consent)

Urolagnia (known as "water sports") (they banned pee, but not poop?)

Role-playing as non-adults (so that includes dressing as a school girl, for example)

Physical restraint (bye bye bondage)

Humiliation

Female ejaculation

Strangulation

Facesitting

Fisting

Righto, you grab the animatronic components on this list, Saxon can procure these vitality chemicals, and if Alexxx would be so kind as to start up my weather machine (it should still be set thunder-snow) I'll go dig up ol' George...

Regulating such things on the internet has always been tricky, because webpages by nature copy data to your system. So the presence of something questionable on a PC does not imply that the owner consented to downloading it.

Are there any analists digesting the consequences of the bill? or will there be any?

Don't a fair few people consider porn art?

I mean especially the drawn stuff.

Furthermore, who asked for this, seriously? Who said "I can't stand the thought that stuff like this exists on the internet. So instead of ignoring it like  a sane and balanced person would do, I shall complain to the government and get it banned!"

Perhaps it was a sex-starved angry girlfriend or the angriest of virgins.

No, actually it was the British conservative party.

British attitudes towards sex have always been retrograde compared to the rest of Europe. People used to buy pornography from the Netherlands, before the internet, because almost anything that was actually any fun was illegal in Britain for being 'unconventional'.
English companies which produce spanking pornography have to send their actors to the Czech republic in order to shoot the films, because it would be illegal to do so in the UK.

Since the advent of the internet, everybody has easily been able to circumvent these laws, which has frustrated the conservatives, so they view this as 'closing a loophole'.

I also think this is just part of the overall English stuffiness of our country's political class.

We have a monarchy, the law binds all schools to hold religious services, we have an official state church and its bishops vote on the eligibility of new laws.
We live in a country where you need a fucking license to own a television.

Of course these sorts of people resent the idea of sex, free discussion or the idea that we should walk outside without being monitored by constellations of cameras. If they could do away with sex entirely and make new humans in the lab, they would.

It's all for our own good of course; nanny knows best.

It used to be worse, you used to need a licence to own a dog, a radio (generic home ones rather than fancy ham systems) and a extension to the radio licence to have on in your car.

Those where done away with some time in the late 70s after being considered pointless.

Even if you have no TV and watch everything online you still for stupid reasons need one if you are to watch anything live. I think one of the penalties is having "reciving equipment" confiscated.

I'll have to look at the frumpy dumpy bill behind the law and see if that's the case though.

This is actually more expansive. You need a television license to watch live television on your computer, but you also need  one to watch 'catch-up' television if it was produced by the BBC.

Essentially I don't watch any television at all when I'm at University, because it would be illegal.

Honestly, fuck my country.

Kinda funny that a country that won't punish cabals of serial rapists and pedophiles has no qualms prohibiting pornography that they find unsavory.

Y'all's priorities sure are fucked all to Hell.

In most Western european countries, it is legal to cane a porn star and illegal to cane your children. In England it is the other way around.

When you're considering English politics you have to remember the most important thing is making sure nobody is enjoying themselves. Actually protecting people, or going after criminals, is mostly coincidental.

What the hell is caning?

Caning was where if you didn't behave in school the teacher would hit you with a willow cane over your hands or ass. It and other corporal punishment things was banned in the 80s. If you where older a more painful variant with springy bits of wood was used.

Slippers, books and blackboard erasers where also thrown at those who didn't shut up in class.

Any violent action which leaves a mark is banned, so that's all forms of butt whapping. :c
I am also surprised that this is banned, because it's really quite innocent. It's actually double-banned because any activity which caused humiliation is also prohibited.

These rules restricting pornography were drawn up decades ago, and it sounds like the people who wrote them probably wanted to prevent violence towards actors and degradation, but the rules are so diffuse that it means that even vanilla fetishes are treated like they are some horrible crime.

Switching is slightly different to caning. A switch is usually made from hickory or hazel and you're forced to cut it yourself as part of a domestic punishment. A cane is usually made from rattan and you don't make a new one every time a punishment is required; you get sent to the headmaster's office to receive it.

Another stick punishment is birching, which uses a bundle of hazel switches tied together, so that it's like receiving multiple switchings at once.

Sadly, I think we're going to see similar efforts in the US, especially given Sessions as the new attorney general, the Republican party platform of porn as a 'public health crisis', the number of extreme right wing appointments in the new administration, and the general vagueness of the SCOTUS decision that 'allowed' porn here not so many decades ago (Miller v. California, 1973)---not to mention a SCOTUS that could soon be the tool to overlook any number of so called, 'rights'.

I'm sure we'll be hearing more on this issue; this touched on some points:

Brexit freedom from Europe, mass surveillance protecting the people from terrorism, and vanilla porn ban protecting the moral health of the nation.  The righteousness of Her Majesty's Kingdom truly knows no bounds.  All that is needed now is Indy Ref 2, which will really tie the whole thing together.

The Anglosphere is having a great year.  I cannot wait to see what 2017 has in-store for us. So far Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand remain unscathed by horrid policy and terrible choices.  Only time will tell.

Lets not forget the Investigative Powers Act passing in the UK too ^^

Does this mean that V for Vendetta's an actual prophecy. Will London have a civil war to protect people's ability to fap?

Instead of everyone dressing up as V, will everyone dress up in fetish outfits?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see a horde of people dressed as school girls marching down the streets of Britain.

We'd probably hope not, given what was happening in America in that movie.

Then again, you're about to have Trump in charge, so maybe?

Can anyone link a copy of the actual law? I just wanna see if something I'm viewing is illegal or not.

e.no need, since it's UK hosted sites only I'm good.

The Government's new bill would require ISPs to block foreign hosted content that did not conform to their standards.

This would include any adult website that didn't require credit card or electoral roll registration, and among those which did, any which distribute forbidden content, like urination, whipping or bondage.

Oh the Government are probably only doing it so that if any newspapers get photographs of what the Ministers get up to on their days off, they won't be able to print them.

Personally I suspect that the whole bill will prove to be unenforceable.

Nannies.

Hopefully Phoenixed doesn't get ISP blocked. Because, I'd hate to see you and Gibbers blocked because of it.

I found this really hilarious. I wanna see the protests for this and the amount of awkward looking people flooding the streets of their basement in protest.

English people broadly don't care. Most of them perceive anybody who does as 'somebody who has something to hide'.

An update on the situation:

The digital economy bill passed its third reading in Parliament today without any objections. This means that the requirement that any website hosting adult content without requiring credit card or electoral roll registration will soon be blocked.
It also means that any fetishes that are not approved by the British regulator will also now be considered illegal to distribute on the internet. My furaffinity gallery will soon be a criminal enterprise.
Parliament is currently discussing how to block 'unsuitable content' on twitter.

The universal recording of all our Browsing histories will begin this December.

Don't fret Saxon.  If you play your cards right you could run a furry underground in the Isles.  You can become the Kingpin of Yiff raking in millions of pounds.  Think of all the money and influence you will be able to accumulate.  The entire London crime scene will speak of you in hushed tones out of fear and respect.  Alternatively you will be jailed as England's first furry political dissident.  Pro democracy supporters and NGOs will rally behind you as you await a fair trial.  Eventually the more tolerant nations of the free world will give you refugee status.  Allowing you to continue down the spiral of perversion.

Either way you will become famous, so what do you have to lose?
