Since they appear to be all the rage, I figured I'd toss yet another quiz out there.

Ars Technica did a piece on the group that set it up a while back, it's another Myers-Brigg derived personality test. What kind of gamer are you?

My results:

Gaming Style : Aggressive, Analytical, Relaxed, Independent, and Creative.

The Action Components (75%):
   Destruction (95%)

Action-Oriented, Spontaneous, Relaxed, and Gregarious

Interestingly enough, it told me Dark Souls and Monster Hunter are a games people who like challenge enjoy playing. I got a real low score for that, rightfully so, I don't like to play things FOR the challenge, but Dark Souls and MH4U are some of my favorite games. Not because of the challenge and difficulty, but because of the setting, lore, mechanics(DS) or the weapon complexity, progression curve(MH) and how well designed they are(both). I'm not bad at the games either, but the challenge isn't what draws me into it.

I know it's not going to be perfect but that is a 100 percent misjudgment on those two games for some people. It is right for others.

I find it interesting that it recommended my favorite game to me (Metal Gear Solid 3).
Of the other things it recommended, most of them are games I eventually want to play (Elder Scrolls series, Fallout series, Legend of Zelda series) or games I've already played (Minecraft, Pokemon, Monster Hunter). Seems pretty accurate for me.

(Also accurate in that I often don't give a mutt's nut about "mastering" a game.)

So I like simple, hard, fast-paced single-player games that are gonna repeatedly kick my ass, and also have an element of discovery to them.
Sounds about right.

Action-Oriented, Proficient, Driven, Social, Grounded, and Creative

Untitled1.thumb.jpg.82ffd4fbe8fd5b38b8d9

It's waaaay off on the "action oriented" thing. I tend to prefer games where I can go slow and steady, not run in guns blazing, mostly because my overall reflexes seem to be a bit slower and I get caught off guard too easily to be decent at fast-paced games. It's why the only PVP shooter I have ever enjoyed and played more than a couple hours has been Rainbow Six Siege. I can take my time and plot stuff, but sometimes I don't plot enough. v.v I've tried CoD and the like, but just couldn't keep myself into them for very long because they were way too frustrating for me.

It's also slightly off on "social". The only time I like to play with people is when it's people I know and trust not to be dumbfucks or really rude. When I can find people I mesh well with I do enjoy it a lot, but I'm super duper selective about it and I hate just playing with randoms (though sometimes it is necessary, sigh).

Fast-Paced, Persistent, Ambitious, Competitive, Grounded, and Expressive

This thing has no idea what is going on, I play a game, get pissed off and quit. I play d3 and that's it, I used to love gaming, but I can't keep up. I'm no hardcore anybody.

There isn't even a little bit of social anything going on :P

It blew me away when I got my shit into 400-someodd in the leaderboards.

Calm, Proficient, Ambitious, Immersed, and Creative... dunno about creative but the rest seems pretty spot on, I do love a challenge (Dying Light first time through on Hard lives up to its name early levels).

22% Destruction
45% Excitement

92% Challenge
64% Strategy

29% Completion
89% Power (Muhahaha xD)

47% Competition (Pfft)
57% Community (People, ew)

86% Fantasy
9% Story (Dark Souls basically, fuck all plot explained explicitly... had to think for a second on this one as a high fantasy rating would imply a lot of lore... I guess lore and story are different things)

85% Discovery (Place where dragons live?  Right, on my way)
52% Design

You did shit on Big Brain Academy, I am doing shit at all the games.

Haha, to be honest your chart just means you like a balance.  At the end of BBA you got a chart showing your various cognitive scores, the first time I played it while learning all the puzzles I did soooo bad :S

Aggressive, Relaxed, Gregarious, and Expressive

Naturally, almost all of the suggestions this gives me are MMO's, any of which nowadays requires the time investment of a full-time job to squeeze any enjoyment out of and reach the point to where you might find other players to play along with.  Also, nothin' like starting off a summary with antonyms!

But I've heard of the Secret World before.  Does it being an MMO really bog it down for newbees, or is it some kind of miraculous new kind of MMO that's actually fun at all levels?

I believe it. JRPGs and Action/Adventure are my favorite kinds of games, after all, and I REALLY HATE multiplayer-centric games

Pretty much I like extremely hard, immersive games and ones with lots of cooperative social interactions.

Not surprising to me since my favorite games are Ninja Gaiden Black, Dark Souls, Terraria, Alien Swarm, Undertale, and various other bullet hells.
