Sooo... you know this poll is useless without associated area cost-of-living data, right? I mean, a comfortable income in one place is not necessarily going to be a comfortable, or possibly even livable, income elsewhere.

 

76K this year + bonus. I'm salary, so I get paid the same total amount no matter how many hours I actually work.

I just got a raise this morning, which bumped me into a higher category. Not wealthy yet, but solidly middle class. @DrGravitasmakes a good point about the cost of living. So much depends on where you live and work. Benefits also vary. My job has good benefits, which help me live more comfortably than I might with a higher income under a different employer.

If I counted how much I'm making now part time it's probably below 10k a year a most; I do make slightly more working for my dad on a daily basis but that all goes into school... my dad makes a decent amount of money but it all goes to various bills so we don't really have all that much money

Huh, giving us a median income of less than $20,000. I wonder what the mean would be? 

Taking into account the cost of living is also a major factor; the average cost of a 1 br apartment in San Francisco is about $3,500 (or so say various sources), and here in Baltimore, it's about $1,600, though that seems high. I could get an a nice 2 BR (or 1 BR = Den for that, tall ceilings, hardwood floors, nice woodwork and a fireplace that worked. Well, if I had the money!

It depends where. That sounds like it could be a 1BR in The Castro or Haight Ashbury.. or maybe the Financial District, but like... Balboa Park or some shit youd be looking more like a grand to a grand and a half.

Yeah, those did seem high. I just checked in Baltimore, and could get a 2 BR in Bolton Hill, with two fireplaces, in a quaint historic district near all the artsy stuff, for 1,600. (probably about 1,400 sq. feet). 

What has gone up more is just getting your foot in the door of a basic studio or 1 BR...that's shown the sharpest increase, in these parts.

I looked at NYC, and Ouch! No way. You'd have to live in a broom closet. Plus, it's just not as cool as it was; has gotten all Disneyfied and Yuppified.

I earn money from so many different sources, as well as investments, that it's really hard to estimate. One of my jobs pays me about $50k, I think my Uber/Lyft driving pays me at most $12k since I rarely drive, and my investments make and lose me lots. Like, for example, I made more than the top choice there in just the last one and a half months, but I've lost almost $200k on a shitty investment last year.

To other members of the forum it is, and I can't imagine any valid use case to display it on the admin side. That said, there is obviously relational data stored to ensure unique votes, etc. on the database level.

You get about 5-6 hours of work a day, and get work about 2-3 days each week at McDonalds. They pay all employees (except managers) minimum wage, which here is $7.25, and they pay bi-weekly. 

Its pretty awful.

Also schedules change every week, so its extremely difficult to get a 2nd job.

Okay, with a minimum of $10 hours a week, that makes a bit more sense.

I mean, you could always find something better that's flexible enough with scheduling to work around school.

A lot of people do that, in retail for example.

There is also work-study.

Ugh... I tried day labor here at one point.

I waited there like 3 or 4 hours for three days in a row, to not even be sent out.

The only times I ended up doing construction is when they needed people and came here to ask.

It's crazy that people do that shit and wait ALL... DAMN... DAY... to have a chance to make $50-100 doing hard work.

I get paid 85k a year to sit in an office at midnight for 6 hours by myself doing things that aren't even in my job description, reviewing "data", and posting on Discord, then I spend the next 4 hours in "close communication" with daywalking nerds who are barely awake and tell them things I've already emailed them about.

Sometimes I have to tell the daywalking nerds that their ideas are bad and then convince another daywalking nerd to buy someone else's idea and "fully integrate" it.

It's totally worth it because I get to laugh at poor people on the internet.

I'm getting paid a lot of money to ride on go karts today. I like go karts as much as the next guy but they gave me all this shit to do, and then put dim sum, go karts and painfully long meetings where we discuss what's best to discuss in those meetings during whatever time it is I might be able to work. With all of that BS I had about three hours to work yesterday, and I'm guessing it ought to be the same today.
